The Dutch Quarter in Colchester was home to Flemish Protestant refugees in the 16th Century. Here they set up their weaving trade and became well known for the production of Bays and Says cloth. The Dutch Quarter is located just north of the High Street and its stones throw away from city's high street. Today it is a quiet residential area with an eclectic mix of houses, churches and theatres.
