We booked this beautiful barn for our friends that were visiting from Croatia and they absolutely loved it. They said it was very comfortable and beautifully peaceful. They were only with us for a few days but would have loved to stay longer. I messaged Helen a number of times before and during their stay and she was always very helpful and quick to respond. Check in stated between 3 & 10pm but due to our guests late flight I knew they wouldn’t arrive before 11pm, this wasn’t a problem. Then their flight was delayed so would be even later, again, not a problem. Helen is a top rate host and I would highly recommend Leggs Barn to any family looking to feel like they’re away from it all 😊
Tranquil and relaxing a lovely place, great for a family of 4. Cosy zen yet very close to town centre.
Es war alles vorhanden. Betten waren gut, Küche war gut ausgestattet, Bäder waren gut und ganz vieles was man sonst benötigen könnte
This is a quiet and cosy place with beautiful views of the countryside and walks on its doorstep. To find it, ensure you turn left at Leggsfield House! Helen was responsive to messages and also generous in the welcome pack she left us as well as the number of cleaning products, toilet rolls, spices, oil etc she left available to us. There were a few things that we felt could be improved though. The property is listed as dog-friendly however there is not a secure grassy area to let the dog out into when dark, which was less convenient than we would have liked - dog owners should bear this in mind. Some additional maintenance is required to make this a 5 star property - the blind on the front door is broken, the boiler and plumbing are very noisy, floorboards upstairs and on the stairs creak very loudly, there were some lights not working etc. Also, the paving on the slope down to the barn were very slippery - 2 of us fell over- could do with jet washing. Overall good but not great.
We had a lovely stay at Helen’s places over Christmas. She left us a basket of festive treats which was very thoughtful and also came straight over in person to help us figure the heating. The views were beautiful and there is a lovely public footpath right next to the house. Great stay, thank you.
Surroundings
Boarshead, Eridge and The Weald
There is a comprehensive network of local footpaths in the area for the walking enthusiast to explore, gently winding through some of the most picturesque countryside in Sussex not to mention the 6,500 acre Ashdown Forest which is only a 10 minute drive away. A surprise to most visitors, there are substantial cliffs tucked away in the woodlands of the High Weald of East Sussex. Giant boulders some ten metres high greet the visitor to Eridge Rocks (5 minutes from the Barn). This Sussex Wildlife Trust nature reserve is a hidden gem of ancient woodland and stunning sandstone rock outcrops.
Thirty miles south of London you can explore the High Weald - one of the best surviving medieval landscapes in Northern Europe. Whenever you come, and whatever you do, you will encounter: mysterious ancient woodlands and fern-clad streams sunken lanes created by Saxon drovers and Tudor ironmasters cottages, farms and manor houses built from timber and sandstone and wildlife-rich fields and heaths.
