The property is set amongst two acres of organic cinnamon, fruit trees and teak with access to a private waterfall. The estate boasts panoramic views over picturesque paddy fields, winding valleys and forest-covered hills. The choice of Wabi Sabi inspired architecture adds a touch of elegance and timelessness to the space, emphasizing the beauty of imperfection and the transient nature of life. The property is within easy reach of several tourist hotspots including Nil Diya Pokuna Caves, Kurullangala Ancient Caves, Ella Rock, Pekoe trail, several stunning waterfalls and Lipton’s Seat. 16km (35 Minutes) from the bustling tourist hotspot of Ella, with its many restaurants, bars and attractions, or Bandarawela, one of Badulla district’s largest towns with accessibility to all major amenities. 4-hour drive from Colombo city along the Southern Expressway, 2 ½ hours from Arugam Bay’s beaches and surfing spots and 1 ½ hours from Hambantota and Yala National Park, making it a central location and ideal stopping point on route to the island’s best tourist destinations. A tuk tuk with a driver or scooter rental (LKR 3000 per day) option is available on property.

Best time ever! We stayed at Mevanda’s 2 nights and had an amazing time! It was tranquility. The place is beautiful, it was such a great experience and totally made our time in Ella. We would wake up and they would bring us amazing tea and the breakfasts were sooo good! We also had dinner at the house and it was absolutely amazing! We love the little cat that looks just like Garfield named juicy, and Max the dog is so cute! We went and spent time at his private waterfall and loved it! The time we spent and Mevanda’s was something we will never forget. Everyone who works there is so amazing and made us feel so welcome! Highly recommend. (It’s about 30 min from Ella but 100% worth it)
We had the most beautiful stay at Mevanda’s house. Super special location, beautiful views, the best for early risers to watch the sunrise from the terrace. We highly recommend coming here as it’s conveniently located, just south of Ella, but away from the busy town and surrounded by local farmers and great birdsong. What more could you want? Mevanda is also very happy to offer any guidance, recommendations and good tuk tuk drivers 😊 thank you.
We absolutely loved our stay in Jungala, the place is truly special and Mevanda and his staff were incredibly warm and welcoming. Would highly recommend this hidden gem to anyone seeking to escape the city and enjoy the tranquility of the nature.
Die Unterkunft war ein Traum! Mevanda war ein großartige Host, der super hilfbreit war. Das Essen war super lecker und alles regional aus der Umgebung. Der Ausblick den man dort hat und atemberaubend. Die Lage ist ruhig und etwas abseits aber sie liegt beispielsweise 1 Stunde Fahrt vom Diyaluma Wasserfall. Abends hatte man den schönsten Blick auf die Sterne. Allesamt war der Aufenthalt bei Mevanda absolut empfehlenswert.
Wir hatten einen tollen Aufenthalt bei Mevanda mitten im paradiesischen Grün. Die Unterkunft ist sehr schön ruhig gelegen mit einem tollen Blick auf grüne Hügel. Außerdem gibt es einen kleinen Wasserfall, zu dem man einen kleinen Spaziergang machen kann. Das alte Farmhaus ist sehr schön renoviert und es gibt eine tolle Terrasse, von der aus man morgens den Sonnenaufgang sehen kann. Auch das Frühstück und Abendessen waren ausgesprochen lecker. Bei unserem nächsten Sri Lanka Besuch werden wir auf jeden Fall noch mal wieder kommen ☺️
