We were using the Ithaca area as a base camp for the eclipse! We had friends driving & flying in from all over the country to join us. I'd booked our original Airbnb two months in advance. But then that host _cancelled_ with a ridiculous excuse less than 8 hours before we were due to check in. Shannon's place was the backup I found. And the reservation was accepted automatically. Then Shannon called me as I was driving up to inform me that _she_ had to cancel—because she had told the guest who was staying there, he could stay there longer and had somehow left Airbnb out of that communication. Shannon's place may be the most lovely Airbnb in the universe. I don't actually know. But I am INCREDIBLY displeased about the way she—and Airbnb—handled this particular transaction.
