If you’re looking for something off the beaten track then this place is as far off the UK track that you can get! Use the worlds shortest scheduled airline flight (Logan Air) to get here for an extra memorable trip. If Papay wasn’t on your bucket list then your bucket list wasn’t complete. The house is utterly perfect and Dan & Wendy most probably the best hosts on Airbnb. The house, albeit perfect, is only the start of what will be an incredible experience. Meeting the islanders is as interesting as the Island itself which is rich with historical and natural wonders. The house is brand new and has every modern amenity. The beds, most likely more comfortable than the one in your own home. Real wood fire burner, but also Netflix! Rustic charm and yet a heated clothes drier! nb. It may rain! If you’ve looking at Instaben then it means you want something a little different. We had the holiday of a lifetime in North Scotland and the islands. Our stay at Istaben was the highlight by far

It is not often that superlatives are entirely appropriate for a review, but Wendy and Dan have together created the most fantastic place and have been, without any doubt, the best hosts I have ever had on Airbnb- or even privately. Their renovated Orcadian cottage is beautifully done, and deceptively spacious- perfect for letting in the phenomenal Orcadian light. Every single detail is thought through- from barbecues to beachtowels, and the remote setting overlooking the sea is perfect for reflection and rest- or work. Equally, the kindness, warmth and tact of Wendy and Dan mean that they judge perfectly what is wanted, from seclusion through to friendly drinks and trip to the weekly community pub. Papa Westray is a small, friendly island, and Wendy and Dan are key members of the Papay community. I cannot recommend their place, the island, and them enough!

This was more than just a stay: it was a very impressive experience. The journey to the island (by small plane) was part of the adventure, but also being on an island with more seals and seabirds than people feels very special. If you want to be immersed by nature, this is the place to be! For us, a family of 4, it was the highlight of our Scotland trip.
