We had a great stay. It was a perfect location for a day out in Belfast. The view is spectacular. Everything we needed was available. Host was super responsive. Would highly recommend for 2-3 couples or a family.
We so enjoyed our stay at Lilacs & Sea Breezes and would absolutely stay again! David and Hannah were excellent hosts and very responsive. The home had everything we needed complete with incredible views of the marina and surrounding area. We enjoyed several of the recommendations listed and really savored our time in Belfast. Thank you for having us!
This was a great spot for our cousins' weekend trip! The views from the cozy deck were amazing. We walked to local restaurants and the huge local farmer's market. The Harbor Walk was close by and a beautiful spot to walk. Check in was easy and we were able to check in early. Some cleaning questions were answered quickly and resolved with great expediency. We truly enjoyed our stay!
Belfast, Maine is a vibrant and picturesque fishing village on the coast of Maine, between Augusta and Acadia National Park. Route 1 brings you through a series of quaint towns, with restaurants touting lobster and other delicious sea food. Our house sits just above the water with views of Penobscot bay so that turtle head on Isleboro is visible at night and the lights of Castine are visible in the evening. The sun rises in front of our deck to light up the masts and then the boats tied up to moorings. Often the famous Belfast Tugs are thrumming their way out to waiting ships in Searsport. Most people would prefer to walk the short distance of a block to the beginning of the Harbor Walk along the water to town–though it also meanders along the water, through the large boat yard, many floating docks filled with pleasure yachts, and a few miles along the old rail trail. Belfast town itself has a reputation as a walkable town with many historic buildings, retail shops, galleries, and its own museum. One could easily spend a week visiting a new locally-owned establishment with fare ranging from unique food trucks to gourmet food famous along the East coast. The art scene moved North from Camden to Belfast years ago and the creative community has its own artists center at Waterfall Arts, Belfast Center as well as several galleries along Main Street and High Street. Weekly music is freely available downtown or on the waterfront park, four theater groups perform, and myriad venues for sports from pickleball, tennis, swimming, biking, rowing, kayaking and, of course, sailing are right there!
Then there are Maine’s “shoulder seasons”--September and October. These months are relatively quiet in comparison to the bustling summer season–but still warm. Autumn is perfect for drives to enjoy quintessential New England fall foliage and apple picking at local farms. Various harvest festivals including the Common Ground Fair in Unity are nearby. The pace slows down a notch, crowds thin a bit, the weather is crisp, dry, and beautiful, Fishing and foraging are at their best.
Whether you’re looking for a place to explore restaurants and museums, enjoy water or simply relax with a spectacular, ever-changing view of the waterfront from our deck, you’ll love it here!
Guests have their own private parking in this safe, welcoming neighborhood. Walking distance to the bay and downtown places, this house is in the perfect location for vacationing in the vibrant town of Belfast. Just a hop to the iconic Harbor Walk leading to the Rail Trail, this is an awesome biking, jogging, and beach walking destination!
