It’s on a point in Queen’s Creek with a 180-degree view of the quarter-mile-wide estuary, three miles upriver from the Intracoastal Waterway and five miles from the ocean. This is among the best fishing spots in coastal Carolina, visited by dolphins and birds of every type. We’ve rehabbed (and aren’t quite finished )with this 1959 fishing cottage with two bedrooms, two full baths, outdoor shower, water-facing decks, fire pit, outdoor fireplace and lots of outdoor seating for watching beautiful sunrises and sunsets, birding, fishing and just breathing. The kitchen and living area are all sliding glass doors overlooking the water. A geothermal system keeps it nice and cool in summer and warm in winter. The sliding doors are screened to capture the coastal breeze. It’s on a quiet dead-end road just a mile and a half from the Swansboro Food Lion, Walmart, restaurants. Just three miles to historic downtown Swansboro and 15-20 minutes from Emerald Isle by car, depending on traffic. We have been adopted by a feral cat, Mr. Cat, who also adopted our beautiful 95-year-old neighbor, Jo, a retired English teacher whose father founded the fishing camp.
