Very cool cabin—three stories built into a hill in a lovely hidden valley. Hosts are super-kind & friendly. An awesome dog to hike with as well. I definitely hope we can return!

The description of the unique environment from past reviewers was spot on, off-the-grid and no modern amenities! As a city girl with ancestral roots in farming, I felt an immediate connection and understood why the property owners moved & fortified their ancestral home a few miles to their property so future generations can experience their ancestral roots. I was honored to walk the path of past settlers, especially in the beginning of spring when my dogs could romp free off the trail while we walked the beautiful moss/pine needle trails. Breath-taking beauty in its simplicity!
Excellent stay, friendly people, beautiful location! Highly recommend to anyone looking for a little get away! We will be back!
The cabin is not just a place to stay but a step into a different way of being in the world. Highlights: peaceful walks around the forest, being free from the distraction of cell service and internet, sitting by the wood stove into the evening playing board games, learning how to use the composting toilet and chamber pot, and waking up at dawn to read a book with a cup of tea. Seeds of change were planted within me, and I hope to return, and, more than that, I hope to bring more of what I felt here into my daily existence.

We are homesteaders, 30 years into learning ways to recreate and share one version of a good life. We garden, sing, make maple syrup, walk, preserve food, and try to keep the place up. We love the town of Decorah, 6 miles from where we live, and participate in the ongoing community arts and living events that are ever-sprouting from this happening little town.
