Unlike most fireplace-heated homes in the region, our recent renovations offer underfloor heating and a heat recovery ventilation system to ensure you have a comfortable stay whatever the weather. The home includes an open plan kitchen/living/dining room and energy-efficient fireplace, bright high ceilings, stunning views out of enormous windows in every room, and two modern bathrooms - each with readily heated showers. A second living/relaxation area resides along side the 3 spacious bedrooms -- 1 with comfortable king size bed, 1 with double (2-person) beds, and 1 which a single bed. Cozy all-cotton bed linens and towels are included. We offer a baby crib and high chair if you need them. Although we enjoy the serenity of no television, internet is from portable modem and is usually satisfactory for basic use. We also have a microwave, washing machine, dishwasher, and all the kitchen tools you will need to cook to make your stay more relaxing. Unlike most Irish homes, we offer a coffee maker alongside our tea pot. There are also some non perishable food items such as salt, spices, vinegar, etc. Outside there is ample parking, a seating area and large outdoor space. You will be staying alongside the friendly Gaeltacht (Irish-speaking) people, many of whom have lived in the region for generations. Depending on the time of year you can burn wood on the fire or sit outside and take in the views. There is a picnic table for an outdoor lunch. The Aran Islands are only ten miles away by sea. There are numerous coves, beaches and inlets to explore along the rugged coastline. Children from all around Ireland come to stay in houses in this community during the summer months to learn the language so you may notice them on your walks. Golf Anyone? Connemara Isles Golf Club is located in close by Lettermore. This distinctive island course offers a unique opportunity to play golf on the edge of the Atlantic ocean while enjoying the breathtaking views of Cill Chiaráin Bay, Cnoc Leitir Móir and Cnoc Mordáin. This 9 hole golf course is a golfers gem. After the game relax in the friendly atmosphere of Irelands only thatched club house and experience the magical beauty of the Irish language You might also want to take a 50 minute drive to the more 'tourist driven' villages of Clifden or Roundstone and enjoy some of the traditional music in the pubs and shops that are more plentiful there. It is advisable to have a car as there is no public transportation or taxis available.
