Erna is a genuinely caring person, in a subtle and gentle way. She would always asked me what I would like for dinner (which she provides in a family style at reasonable charge), what I would like to do (she put me into one local morning volunteering activity to collect compost waste!), and left me in peace when I want to be alone. On the other hand, her husband, her son, and her daughter are all genuinely happy and respectful people. They were always smiling, and interacting with me with kindness. Erna has two rooms on the second floor exclusive for the guests. During the day there is sunrise and farm view, and at night there is jungle breeze and quietness. Don’t hesitate to book! If you are lucky you can taste the coconut form her garden, which tastes really, really sweet (better than others I’ve tasted), just like her and her family.

We loved our stay with Erna and her family very much! It is such a beautiful place and we really liked that it was a little outside of Bukit Lawang and it's hustle and bustle. Erna was just amazing with helping us to organizing our jungle trips and hiking to the Amorphophalus titanum flower. She is also doing a very interesting and more important delicious cooling class which we liked very much. Additionaly we had great talks with her and loved to hear about her Eco Farm and all the other things she is doing for the community. We would love to go back to this beautiful place one day.

You want to feel home and find some peace? Then I can fully recommend ernas homestay. You ll. Stay with a very welcoming and carrying family, erna, papi and their two kids. The guest rooms are mainly on the second floor, and if you wish you can also take your meals up there, or you decide to eat downstairs, surrounded by all the family discovering their everyday life, discussing with erna, making fun with the kids. Erna is a great cook and always happy to give cooking classes! The homestay is a bit out of bukit lawang, but in exchange it's so very quite, you can fully enjoy your sleep in the king-size bed! For me, I found my Indonesian family and will comeback whenever I'm in bukit lawang. Thanks erna and papi!!
