This barn conversion dating back to the 1800s has been carefully converted and sympathetically restored retaining original features such as exposed stonework, beams and some flagged floors which have been complemented by co-ordinated furnishings throughout. Tucked away in a secluded rural position approached by a ½ mile long, well made up farm lane. This property truly provides a haven from which to escape the pressures of everyday life and also features a games room (please note this is not heated). Enjoying panoramic views of Pendle Hill and the Ribble Valley. A public footpath and bridleway runs close by making it ideal for walking and riding direct from the door and with the Trough of Bowland and the Yorkshire Dales close at hand, it is ideal for touring. Blackpool and the Lakes lie a little further afield. Alternatively the bustling market town of Skipton is 10 miles and there are plenty of mill shops in the surrounding towns which provide quality products at discounted prices. Shop and pub 3 miles. As a group of ladies in our 40s who enjoy the outdoors and get together a few times a year this cottage was perfect. It gave us the space to relax and eat and catch up in style and comfort. The cottage was large yet cosy and the kitchen & utility were very well equipped. The massive sunny kitchen table accommodated us all easily. The patio was a delightful sun trap from were we watched hares, pheasants and a variety of wild birds. We all enjoyed good nights sleep with no complaints about the beds. Plenty of parking. The games room was a fun bonus which we enjoyed for quite a few hours. Opening the doors onto the fields was great. I suggested to the owner that the could do with some new balls and darts but that was our only comment that could be deemed negative. If I’d had my children with me I think they would have moved in there !! We had a nice trip to nearby Skipton, lovely market town. All in all a great stay in a lovely cottage.
A fantastic place to unwind with family or friends! Our family stayed for a few nights and had a great time. There is nothing around within walking distance (unless you are a serious walker!) but that's why we were there, for some peace and quiet. Just a warning, if the weather is cold then the games room is quite chilly as there's no heater or insulation to it, but that's as advertised so was expected. The main house is well stocked for plates, pots and pans, cutlery etc and is very warm with comfy beds and is a lot bigger on the inside than it looks on the outside. Overall a fantastic place to stay and would highly recommend to anybody who wants an isolated stay, with plenty of rabbits, pheasants and the odd deer to admire while taking in the scenery!
Higher Paradise is a great house in a beautiful private location. All amenities listed provided. Lots of space. Games room is a nice added extra. Very prompt response from host. Would highly recommend, & would bear in mind for future bookings.
Beautiful house in a stunning location. The barn let it down tho, all the equipment was wet and mould on it, not suitable for children or adults to play with. We were aware that the barn is not insulated which for us is ok, however it was so wet inside that it’s not fit for purpose and had we have know that we would not have booked as that was one of the main reasons for booking this other than other properties. The House is beautiful, however beds are uncomfortable and in need of new mattresses, they are probably as old as the property on its conversion so due changing, that said it is a beautiful location and property but price needs to reflect the barn not been usable and needs new mattresses.
Amazing place to stay… a reunion for family… was exactly what we needed… the only negative I would say rooms are really cold… so central heating was on a lot during our stay…next visit will be in summer…
