Check in was confusing because it says to call the owners and there are two different numbers. I called one of them and a lady told me one check in time. Then the next day a man called me and told me another. Anyway, key was in the box when I got there. The property hadn't been cleaned. There was wee on the toilet seat. Crumbs in the kitchen. Apparently a mix up with my arrival time but I don't think the man who was meant to clean even would have had enough time as it was disgusting. The living room smelt of dog and I had an allergic reaction to the dog hair. The whole house was dusty with cobwebs (and spiders) hanging from the ceilings. Everything I touched was filthy. The bathroom floor had hair and wee all over it. I cleaned the toilet myself and it was horrible. The towels the neighbor brought room strongly smelt of smoke. After 4 nights (I was meant to stay for 11) I was so upset and getting such a bad reaction to the dust and hair and feeling I left and told the owner. Cottages.com told me to put a refund request in with Airbnb which I did but now a week later I haven't received a refund or any correspondence despite me calling every day. This was a really bad experience and has completely put me off Airbnb.

Very comfortable cosy little cottage. Everything you need to have a perfect get away. Parking space very useful as off the road.

Amberley Cottage was clean, tidy and good value for money. It is ideal to use as a base as, it has easy access to the Derbyshire Peak District. There are lovely walks to do and fantastic places to visit nearby such as, Chatsworth House, Haddon Hall, Bolsover Castle. Beautiful villages and towns like, Ilam, Bakewell, Wirksworth and Ashbourne, to name a few, are readily accessable. The cities of Derby, Nottingham and, the IKEA store near Kimberley are with-in easy travelling if you are looking for a good shopping experience.
