This was our third time staying at the Old Smithy, and again had a wonderful stay. The cottage is pristinely clean, and very comfortable. We ate at both the Punchbowl at Crosthwaite and the Hare &Hounds in the village and had lovely meals both times. The cottage is a great base to explore the Lakes, and there are good walks straight out of the property. We hope to return soon.

We had a lovely stay at River Barn. The immediate surroundings are beautiful and we had a very relaxing stay. It is out of the touristy part of Lake Windermere but still super easy to get everywhere - we didn’t drive more than 30 minutes to reach anywhere. There are also 2 nice pubs within walking distance for lunches/dinners out - the Mason’s Arms has lovely views as well. The house is beautifully decorated and is well equipped with everything you need. It has a lovely living room with fire ready to light and lovely views. Rebecca and Phil are very responsive hosts and answered our queries within minutes. They also made some great recommendations of things to do - we particularly enjoyed going to Chester’s by the river cafe and walking to Skelwith waterfall and onto Elterwater. We also enjoyed breakfast at Homeground coffee in Windermere and walking up Orrest Head and driving to Arnside beach and walking up to Arnside Knott viewpoint. Would definitely recommend booking here.

Absolutely incredible! The house was beautifully done and the location was brilliant. A 1 min walk to the local pub Hare and Hounds which was great and it was so good that we went a few times. We did one walk from the house but mostly drove a bit further afield to try different walks. Grasmere was our favourite place - a bit quieter than Windermere and Ambleside and some lovely walks. Would definitely return and would highly recommend to anyone!

This is an incredible place to stay while visiting the Lake District. The location could not have been better, we found Bowland Bridge to be so charming and a great spot to start our adventures from. The house is lovely and the views can’t be beat. Rebecca and Phil are great hosts with wonderful recommendations. One of our favorite airbnbs - we hope to return!

A beautiful cottage renovated to a very high standard. Extremely clean, comfortable, clear instruction given to use all items in the cottage. Beautiful tranquil settimg with lots of local recommendations for walks, activities and restaurants. Luxurious place to stay 10 mins away from Bowness on Windermere . Definitely recommend both the cottage and hosts.
