Maya ist so lieb und freundlich, wir hatten gleich einen guten Draht zu einander. Sie war immer zu erreichen und hat mir viel erzählt und erklärt über die Kultur. Sie ist mir vielen Ihrer Gäste noch in Kontakt. Ich war mir der Familie abends zum Dinner in einem Nawar Restaurant, das war ein sehr schöner Abend. Sie haben mich sogar zu meiner nächsten Unterkunft gebracht. Wenn man einen netten Platz sucht mit Familienanschluss ist man hier genau richtig. Maya hält das Haus sauber und ist sehr fürsorglich.

If you’re looking for a place to stay in Nepal, I can only recommend to stay here. I had a great great time at Mayas home and felt very much included into the family. I was able to eat and cook with Maya whenever I wanted to. Her husband even took me on some hikes through the neighborhood in the mornings. Everything is very clean. You can use the washing machine if you need to and don’t need to bring your own towels. Maya is a very caring woman and helped me whenever I had a problem with something. During the festival time I was even able to experience some of their culture and traditions, as I was able to join her family in a traditional ceremony. I very much enjoyed my time in Nepal and at Mayas home. Thanks for everything!

Maja is a great host who I can highly recommend. The room is comfortable, everything is very clean and there is a very nice roof terrace. You feel like family with Maja, she is very helpful and you can even get a meal. The air in Budhanilkantha is very good and the house is in a very quiet environment. 5 stars for Maya!

I can warmly recommend a stay with Maya and her family! :) Maya has herself lived in Denmark for a long period of time so she is very open-minded and helpful because she knows what cultural difficulties you could face. She will always make time to listen to you and help you out if need be and she will do everything to find a solution. Just one example: If you have someone visiting you, you can talk to Maya and you will find a solution, so don't hesitate to ask her anything! With her open and jolly nature she will have you feel comfortable and at home in no time :) I've stayed around 3 weeks with Maya and her son and I enjoyed it a lot. You will be living in a house where the down floor is rented (at the moment I was there to two young women with their husbands and children who were also really kind), the middle floor is occupied by Maya and her son and the upper floor will mostly be your room and bathroom (which is only rarely used by others) and shared kitchen (she also offers the option to eat with her for payment and the gas in the kitchen you use is payed for seperately - for the around three weeks I stayed there the gas was around 5 Euros, depending on currency changes this may vary) all connected by a terrace where a lot of the social interaction with Mayas family and friends will happen and you can always join, but they also respect your need for privacy if you close your door. From the terrace you will have a wonderful view towards the inner city of Kathmandu and you can also reach the rooftop where you can hang your cloths (washing machine is available) and if you like look at the stars at night or the city and hills during the day. Since it is not a main road the place is rather quit and peaceful yet the bus station and Budhanilkantha temple are very close, it takes approx. 10 minutes on foot, for me this was a really great combination! Also if you're volunteering (e. g. at KAT-Centre or Kinderhaus Kathmandu) as I did this will be a great home too. During my visit there was also a big nepalese festival (Tihaar, the festival of lights) and Maya and her family were so open and welcoming during that time, they invited me for the entire festivities with food and dancing it was just amazing and so kind of them. So depending when your stay is going to be you will definitely get a good view into the real nepalese culture as well. Thank you Maya and family for this amazing experience :)

Jeg sender min varmeste anbefaling, hvis du overvejer at booke dig ind hos Maya! Jeg har netop afsluttet et ophold hos hende på 6 uger, da jeg havde brug for et sted at bo mens jeg arbejdede som frivillig hos KAT (Kathmandu Animal Treatment centre) der ligger bare 20 minutters gang fra Maya’s bopæl. Så har du lyst til at blive klogere på nepalesisk livsstil vil du med glæde blive budt velkommen i familien. Men er du typen der ønsker fred og ro, så respekterer familien også det. Hver dag bliver der lavet lækker hjemmelavet mad, morgen, middag og aften - og har du lyst, så er du velkommen til at spise med mod betaling. Jeg har nydt rigtig godt af Maya’ s hjælpsomhed og har altid kunne regne med hendes hjælp, hvis jeg havde behov for det! Hjemmet er rent og pænt - og der er varmt vand i brusebadet. Værelset ligger på 2. sal ved siden af køkkenet - så du kan regne med at møde familien udenfor din dør eftersom køkkenet er samlingsstedet i løbet af dagen. Derfor, hvis du er typen der har et stort ønske om privatliv også udenfor din hoveddør, så er dette ikke stedet for dig. Men ønsker du at få muligheden for også at få et unikt indblik i nepalesernes livsstil, så er dette stedet for dig! Boligen ligger i et dejlig roligt kvarter uden trafikstøj. Der er 5 minutters gang til hovedgaden hvorfra busserne mod centrum kører fra. Det tager ca. 25 minutter med bus (afhængigt af trafikken) fra Budhanilkantha til bymidten af Kathmandu. Jeg kan på det varmeste anbefale, at bo hos Maya. Med venlig hilsen Heidi
