Camp Steep Bay, located on the northeastern shore of Schroon Lake in the Adirondack Park, offers 800' of private shore frontage, a covered porch, a private dock & beach for boating & swimming and privacy! It has 5 bedrooms & 2.5 baths and a dining table that seats 12. Camp Steep Bay is only accessible by boat via a 5 minute ride from the Schroon Lake Marina & the town dock. If you bring your own boat, deduct $200/day. Camp Steep Bay was designed by renowned Adirondack architect Michael Bird. The great room and dining area on the first floor face the lake. Combined with a big kitchen, this provides a large area for people to be together, eat, drink, play boardgames and read. Outside, guests can enjoy the covered porch, fire pit, hammock, canoe, 2 kayaks and the dock. Cell phone coverage is excellent. If you rent on July 4th, you will be see the impressive Schroon Lake fireworks from your private dock or the pontoon boat included with the rental.

Our entire family was able to be comfortable at this house. Lots of space for everyone! The kitchen was fully equipped with everything we needed to cook meals! The beds were very comfortable and the towels were plush and plentiful! We enjoyed the board games and played lots of card games together. We will definitely never forget this trip!

We had a fantastic time at Doug’s cabin. I was a little nervous about only having boat access, but it was such a quick ride to the marina, and while it required a little extra coordination with our group it was never a problem. The house was beautiful and well appointed, with lots of space for our party of ten. We loved having the kayaks, tubes and games and puzzles for the one rainy day we had. Doug met us at the marina to take us to the cabin and was super responsive to any of our questions. I’d definitely recommend staying at Camp Steep Bay!
Camp Steep Bay is exactly what you want from a lake house. Everything is very well thought through. Although it is not accessible by car, the boat ride is not far at all and you can even take a ride into town by boat which was very convenient. Doug was very accommodating and attentive to all of our needs especially when it came to a few of us working remote from the camp. I’d highly recommend this stay and definitely would come back!
The cottage was gorgeous and had everything we could have possibly needed. Douglas answered all our questions within a few hours and was super helpful when we checked in. We loved the setting and the views!

Schroon Lake is located in the Adirondack park and is therefore protected by the Adirondack Park Agency. Schroon Lake is 9 miles long; you can go canoeing, cayaking, swimming, snorkeling, water skiing, fishing and sun-bathing. You can swim off Camp Steep Bay's private dock, or go to the town beach across the lake if you want sand and ice cream. There are numerous short hikes to do around Schroon Lake as well. The Adirondack High Peaks are an hour away by car. If you rent Camp Steep Bay for July 4th week, you will be able to see the outstanding Schroon Lake fire works from the dock or in the pontoon boat included in the rental.
The town of Schroon Lake offers good restaurants, ice cream at Stewarts, a movie theater, an outstanding marina and an excellent brewery, with a tasting room. The Adirondack high peaks is within an hour by car from Schroon Lake. Schroon Lake, unlike much of the Adirondacks, is reachable from Albany in 1.5 hours and from NYC & Boston in 4.5 hours.
