Une expérience hors du commun, qui m’a surprise de A à Z ! L’emplacement et le cachet de l’endroit étaient époustouflants, la vue est à couper le souffle. Mais c’est par-dessus tout l’hospitalité des hôtes Vinay et Vina qui m’a touchée droit au coeur. Ce sont des hôtes très serviables, chaleureux, qui m’ont fait sentir comme une reine ! Ils m’ont préparée des petits plats sur mesure et m’ont fait découvrir les environs avec générosité. C’est une adresse hautement recommandée. Je suis venue du Canada et je les visiterai à nouveau. Si vous voulez une expérience humaine, paisible et impeccable, c’est l’endroit à choisir.

The home stay was beyond our expectation. It is a beautifully designed house at an absolutely breathtaking location. There is panoramic view of snow clad himalayas, of Satluj river down in valley, and apple orchards on sloping hills around the house, which made for breathtaking views from all the spaces we occupied in the house. We were very well served, made to feel at home, and yet we were provided absolute privacy and exclusive use of a spacious sundeck, a well equipped recreation cum yoga cum exercise room, as well as a private dining space. Vinay was a warm and friendly host. He was very enthusiastic in answering a million questions I had about the history of Kotgarh hills and of the fascinating personality of Samuel Stokes.

We loved staying here! It was an ideal respite on our way to kalpa. Sweeping views, clean comfortable rooms and kind hospitality! Our favorite details were delicious home cooked meals and lovely conversations around the fire pit with both our host (Vinay) and other guests! We would happily come back!

For airbnb: Fantastic stay! This beautiful BnB is located in Thanedhar, HP and is  designed, maintained and hosted by the amazing Mr. Vinay, a great grandson of Sir Satyanand Stokes. Not only is the BnB very beautiful in its design and decor, it is also extremely clean and cozy - a result of the fantastic hospitality of Mr. Vinay and his staff (special love to Sanju, Suman and Chameli!) We got a large room for two with access to a gigantic balcony. The room is clean, and has an attached bathroom with geysers. There is a lounge cum dining room on each floor, and a common kitchen as well. My favourite add-on was cuddle time with the house puppy - Taffy! Why you should visit - If you're in the hills to reconnect with nature - this place is the perfect fit. The BnB is specifically meant to cater to travellers who respect and truly cherish nature. It has a fantastic view of the Pir Panjal range and the snow capped Himalayas behind them. In the night, the lights from the millions of little houses scattered over the range make for a visual feast - like a city of stars. There are cherry and apple orchards near the BnB, where Mr. Vinay will very generously take you on a morning walk and indulge you in facts about the local flora and fauna. The hosts also serve delicious, homely breakfast and dinner from their set menu, which is extremely helpful when you're in a remote area. I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a peaceful getaway from cities. Can't wait to return!
