Salem woods was great to our group, easy to ask questions and a great location and great amenities!
There were some really great things about this place, but plenty of really not great things that left us feeling that we WAY over-paid for our vacation. The good parts were that the house was gorgeous. The views are incredible. The downstairs has heated floors, lots of space, a huge master bath, a huge wood-burning fireplace, and a really great kitchen. The incredibly disappointing parts were that the pool and spa did NOT work! We continued to ask for help, but the pool was freezing cold, and the spa never got above luke-warm. We booked this house solely for the pool, and it was a waste. The huge beautiful fireplace in the pool area doesn't work, and we were told it's for looks. The lights in and above the pool didn't work, and we were told they are "being replaced." The pool has lots of windows open and when we tried to close them, they wouldn't so it was freezing.There was absolutely no house instructions, so we had to try to figure everything out on our own.
Really enjoyed my stay here at Salem Woods!! First floor of main house was immaculate as expected. Lake access was private and pool area was enjoyable. Plenty of space for large dinner and big groups. Only issue we faced was bedroom 3 being like one big room with 4 queen beds. It is unclear in the post. Also there’s only one shower in the main house, but extra showers in the pool area which was convenient for a large group of 12! Highly recommend staying here.
I loved staying at Salem woods! It was spacious and the views were to die for! I stayed for a girls weekend and we had the best time on the lake! Great Lake activities! Host was very responsive! Would highly recommend!
The main house and lake are amazing….if we were going to book again probably would book cottages also so the pool are didn’t have to be shared

Hosting this unique property, steeped in history of Gardner Lake, meets a number of points on my passion scale. The owners are tremendous and the property is off the charts beautiful. A truly unique opportunity for guests to get a taste of New England while choosing to relax, get active, play or explore - Or do it all while you stay with us. Salem Woods on Gardner Lake - Formerly a Boy Scout Camp built in 1917, sold in 2006, and turned into a family retreat, is now ready for you to enjoy. Not only does the property tell a story with it's chimney built in 1933, the gorgeous gardens, koi ponds, waterfalls, and lakefront location but the property also brings together a multitude of stories as people visit with us from across the United States and beyond. Come write your story with us. Don't forget your fishing poles, bikes, swim suits, and a good book.
