We are a middle aged Canadian couple. We rented Peter’s casita from January 13-21. It was clean, quiet, comfortable, secure and cozy! A great little retreat in the mountains with a lovely view of the valley and Nicoya Peninsula. Peter gave us the number of a trusted friend/relative who picked us up at the airport. He spoke English and was great source of information. We used him for outings a few times and also to drive us back to the airport. A friendly man and extremely reliable! We wanted a quiet week, immersed in nature and tranquility and that’s what we got. There is a steep and winding road from the casita to the bus stop that goes into SAN Ramón (2km). It is quite a work out, but we liked it. It’s lovely to stop and enjoy the scenery on the way up and check out the typical Tico houses and incredible views all around you. I would recommend it if you are in reasonably good shape and enjoy a little challenge. If you are the less active type you may want to rent a car. We bought fresh fruit and veg from the farmers market and enjoyed our suppers watching the sunset from the front lawn. As the sun sets the valley is filled with the twinkling lights of a distant city. Very pretty! There is a lady who stays on the premises, Carmen. She is kind and helpful and is there if needed but not at all intrusive. If you are looking for a quiet and peaceful vacation, you will not be disappointed in this casita.
