This was hands-down the best Airbnb experience I have EVER had, and I will absolutely be returning. Sandra & Evert were such wonderful hosts and lovely people, and I felt so at home. My self check-in was super easy as Sandra provided clear, comprehensive instructions. There were so many thoughtful little touches in the room and unexpected amenities in both the kitchen and the bathroom - I even had a second mini fridge as I stayed for a month! I really couldn't have been more comfortable. In April the garden was a beautiful, quiet oasis to relax and work in, with so many gorgeous flowers in bloom. The confederate jasmine all around the house was especially magical. I also loved staying in Leonidas - it was so nice to retreat back to such a calm, quiet, residential neighborhood after a full day and night out in downtown New Orleans. (But there are some great local spots nearby too - don't miss Camellia Grill, Breads on Oak, Jacques-Imo's, The Maple Leaf.) Thank you Sandra and Evert!
Sandra and Evert couldn't have been more sweet, kind and responsive hosts. The place is spotless, cute, and quiet. One night, I asked if I could have a guest for dinner on the patio, and Sandra not only said yes, she brought out a tablecloth so everything would be pretty. I hope I have the chance to stay here again.
Ich habe vier Nächte in Sandras Garden Hideaway verbracht und mich dort sofort wohl gefühlt. Die Unterkunft ist sehr sauber, liebevoll gestaltet und genauso wie beschrieben bzw. in den Fotos. Sie ist durchdacht ausgestattet und man ist mit allem versorgt, es wurde auch an sämtliche Kleinigkeiten gedacht (Pflaster, Ersatzzahnbürste, etc.), was die Unterkunft nochmal wohnlicher macht. In der kleinen Küchenzeile kann man sich kalte Kleinigkeiten zubereiten oder warm machen (Mikrowelle). Die Lage war auch wie beschrieben - nicht im Zentrum, aber in der Nähe einer recht lebhaften Straße, in der man Restaurants, Bars und ein paar kleine Läden findet. Mit dem Streetcar gelangt man bequem in Richtung French Quarter (dauert ca 1h insgesamt). Darüber hinaus waren Sandra und ihr Mann sehr gastfreundlich, hilfsbereit und unglaublich nette Menschen.
Sandra has a wonderful place. Enjoyed the boards in the morning. Nice and peaceful. Beautiful and comfy room as well. Highly recommend and will stay here again.
Perfect stay! This neighborhood is quiet, safe and easy to commute from via streetcar. Sandra’s local recommendations were stellar, but her hospitality and friendliness were my favorite. We loved the thoughtful touches, responsiveness, and respect of our privacy. She went above and beyond with a request, and is just super. The courtyard is darling, too. Highly recommend.

I was born and raised in this beautifully diverse and unique culture of New Orleans. I have worked as a fine art photographer, curator, teacher, travel photographer, and author of “Elysium, A Gathering of Souls, New Orleans Cemeteries” . My fine art photographs have been widely exhibited in the USA and abroad and have also appeared in Vogue, Elle, The Traveler and numerous publications on photography. My passions include art and culture, design, travel, especially Italy, France, Spain and gardens of all kinds and last but not least my wild and crazy hometown of New Orleans!! My husband and co-host, Evert, grew up in Haarlem, The Netherlands and is an abstract painter. During a trip to the USA we met at a gallery in New Orleans. Evert returned to New Orleans as a visiting artist of painting and drawing at Loyola University and later he moved from Haarlem to New Orleans where we got married and now reside. Evert is regarded as an established New Orleans artist and represented by the Cole Pratt Gallery on Magazine St. Evert speaks Dutch and English of course but also a little German and French. Evert and I have many of the same interests and both love welcoming visitors to New Orleans and sharing our recommendations for our favorite local places! Being a host is a great way to introduce new visitors to the real New Orleans and its many diverse neighborhoods, restaurants and events. As Hosts we are open, flexible and want to ensure that you have everything you need for a comfortable and memorable stay in New Orleans!
