We loved our stay at the knocker down cottages. We visited for 2 nights, on arrival the children made use of the pool and we used the recommended pizza place (bennys) for takeaway. Was a great recommendation as the pizza was good but they said they dont normally deliver that far so had to pay extra for delivery but food arrvied hot. On our second day we went to alton towers which was only a short drive and planned to visit the recommended pub for dinner that is linked to the cottages via the private foot path but luckily we looked online and saw it was temporarily closed. We found another pub/restaurant locally (5 min drive) called The Miners and the food was superb. We are looking at getting married locally so this was the reason for our stay we would definitely recommend these cottages to our guests and we will book again in the future. Thank you 😊

Really friendly and helpful staff. Our fire broke in Bonsall and someone came the next morning with an alternative heater who was very apologetic. The place was well tidied and clean but felt damp even with the heaters. The back wall where the bedroom is would get wet and then wet the pillows in the night. if your hand went under the pillow you could feel it. Not ideal with young babies. We thought maybe as it’s a dog owners room (we didn’t take a dog) but maybe the carpet had been left a little damp after being cleaned ..? but there’s just a general damp smell in that back room perhaps the ventilation isn’t great with the weather? Unsure. The facilities were great with the pool, the kitchen has everything you could need, the bathroom was clean just the seal that was dirty but it’s a great location & would consider going back but request a different cottage perhaps. We Felt very Comfortable to be a family there .

Lovely cottage and having a pool was a great bonus, especially when it rained. Great location for exploring the southern Peak District.
