We wanted a relaxing weekend. It was 2 of my daughter’s birthday, usually we are so busy and everything is very loud so this was perfect. The house was amazing. So cosy, warm and well equipped with everything you could possibly need. The bread and hamper was a lovely touch. We had such a lovely quiet relaxing stay and would most definitely go again but for longer. The only tiny issue I would have is the description and pictures don’t do it justice for how beautiful the place is.

Our stay at Ewelands House was just what we needed over Christmas. We were lucky to be able to stay before travel restrictions came in for the pandemic, and had some time relaxing before going into lockdown back home. The house is truly spectacular. It has idyllic views over fields of sheep and the train occasionally passing by in the valley below, which we were able to sit and enjoy while staying warm and cosy inside with the underfloor heating. The kitchen was great, we were able to cook our Christmas turkey with all the trimmings without any issues. The free standing bath was definitely welcome after walking around the moors and exploring castles and abbeys in the North York Moors National Park area. Sleights is a cute little village, where you can get supplies at the local butcher, fish shop or Spar convenience store if needed. The Plough pub (when not closed because of pandemic restrictions) is nice and cosy with good meals. Of course, there’s also “best fish and chips in the UK” available just a short drive away in Whitby. This is a luxurious cottage in spectacular surroundings, and we’d recommend anyone staying here for sure. Joe and Geoff were really nice, and gave us very helpful information for the area and clear instructions for checking in/out. They also left us a nice Yorkshire care package with biscuits, tea, bubbly, etc. I wish we could have stayed longer!
