This was an absolutely magical place! Very private, you only hear trees, water and birds, wonderful view on a lake. Photos didn't do it justice, the cottage combines antique features like a large chandelier with real candles, with modern underfloor heating, fully equiped kitchen and really nice bathrooms. It's filled with books! We stayed with our 6 year old daughter and all enjoyed it. The area around the house is perfect for hiking/walking, the nearest village is only a few minutes by car, Inverness is about 25 minutes away. Thank you Piers, we hope to visit your place again!

Spacious, spotlessly clean and incredibly warm and welcoming, the cottage really felt like a home away from home. We stayed for 4 nights, 6 adults and 3 toddlers and it was perfect for all of us. The cottage offers wonderful communal spaces, as well as having more than enough space to have some time to yourself. The garden is beautiful and our favourite activity during our rainy stay was to sit at the kitchen window and watch the amazing variety of birds come and go from the feeders. We loved how close and easily accessible the local community owned woodland was, the walk to the gorge was fantastic and the wild woodland playground had it all! Communication from Piers was fantastic in the run up to and during our stay and they made sure they had everything ready for us. We really loved it here and would happily stay again! Perfect place for exploring Easter Ross and The Highlands! 😊

We returned to the house after we’d stayed here last year. Such a great cottage, traditional yet modern, it has all the equipment one could wish for and more, is beautifully decorated but still has a homely feel to it. The views are the best and beautiful walking in the area.

Truly such a beautiful home to stay in, it was warm and cosy and felt properly homey. The surrounding area is fun to explore, beautiful walks through the Forrest or down at the sea side. The kitchen was well stocked with necessities and we had so much fun cooking in it. My personal favourite is the bird viewing spot from the dinner table and how comfy the living rooms are! Would absolutely recommend and come back again.

I cannot recommend this property highly enough! It is absolutely gorgeous, cosy and extremely well supplied with everything you could need. The beds are so comfortable, the linens were great, excellent showers - I couldn’t fault it. All communication was excellent and welcoming. A great place to come ‘home’ to each day after exploring the beautiful Highlands. Would 100% recommend this cottage. A+++

We have now added this family home as a new separate listing, but you can check out the reviews for our other two called: "Your Central London Home Base" and "Lovely Scottish Highland Cottage by its own river" - both are 5-star-rated listings, with over 150 reviews. This is now a new listing for another family property that we have renovated following the departure of a family friend tenant, joining the two others that have been in our family for generations. These are our personal homes, and we love welcoming leisure and business travellers in each location, when we ourselves are away. The reviews will show you that we really do want to offer you a homelike experience in a place with nice family furniture, our own books and belongings - not an impersonal letting property. Our whole family have been described as global nomads, having lived and travelled extensively around the world. We have long experience of and affection for emerging economies, in which we have lived, studied, invested and done business. Although it may sound a bit corny, the notion of lifelong learning is strong for us all - probably the closest thing to a motto, along with a strong focus on values and human dignity.
