"SUMMER check-in is on SUNDAY". Nestled on the Eastern Shore of Lake Simond is the "Boathouse". This Classic Adirondack Camp also includes a Bunk House. Lake Simond is a large waterway extension feeding into Big Tupper Lake. It is quiet with little boat traffic and Loons are seen and heard daily. The large dock offers deep water parking for your boat and great swimming off the dock. You literally can't be any closer to the water. Large expansive deck for gatherings and views of the water. Please note that when making a reservation, summer check-in are "SUNDAY's" only. Located on the backside of Lake Simond in Tupper Lake. A very quiet peaceful spot. The Boathouse provides 2 bedrooms, kitchen, dining and sitting area. The Bunkhouse has provides additional sleeping with two single and 1 Queen bed. Great for the kids or two families.
Quintessential Adirondacks Cabin! Warm, quiet and peaceful, perfect place for a fall weekend. We had a rainy weekend (like so many have been here on the east coast lately!) but It was so nice to take in the views of the lake with the spectacular fall colors from the comfort of the cabin. My two boys helped build a fire in the fireplace and declared that we had reached “peak coziness”. The flannel sheets were a perfect touch and we stayed nice and warm. We loved hearing the loons call at night! Kitchen had everything, and Patrick was super communicative and knowledgeable about things to do in the area. We would love to return so we could enjoy the deck and the swimming dock!
Pictures cannot describe the serenity and beauty of this location. The house sits serenely atop Simon Pond with expansive, unfiltered views of the lake and far shoreline. The home is not dimly lit or dark or "too rustic" (although the bunkhouse has its interesting quirks, haha). The place is clean, cozy, and the light is warm. A wooden pathway leads you to the main house beneath large trees. The firepit is tucked in the yard, far enough from the lake for toddlers to enjoy. The dock is large enough to leave a motorboat of decent size overnight. Our primary purpose for the trip was fishing. And while the cost of the house might seem high, it was worth it for us as we could simply roll out of bed at sunrise, make a steaming cup of coffee, get on the boat, and have a line in the water in 10 minutes. You're paying for location and nothing beats it. Sitting on the dock with the smell of autumn, the sounds of loons, and a bright full moon reflecting off the water – you won't regret it.
We paddled up the Raquette River, hiked Mt Arab and Coney Mountain and hung out on the deck and the dock. We saw/heard loons, a bald eagle, kingfishers, great blue herons, wood ducks, and a beaver! The weather was lovely so we were mostly outside, but the boathouse was clean, well appointed, cozy and decorated in a fun ADK vibe with twig furniture, stuffed fish, antleresque chandeliers, and comfy beds with flannel sheets. I loved the artwork, including the paintings of old timey ADK life and landscapes. Great getaway!
Epic location. We jumped off the dock every morning and made extensive use of the kayaks and canoe. We grilled out every evening and ate dinner at a different location on the property for each meal. We finished every night with a bonfire and s’mores while drinking locally distilled whiskey and listened to the loons call at sundown. The house is located in a quiet corner of Simon Lake but is proximate to amazing day hikes near Ampersand, Coney, and Blue Mountain.
We spent a week at the 'Boathouse' in August and had a great vacation. We had cool, somewhat wet weather but still swam off the dock every morning rain or shine. Swimming here is great- the water is about 10-12 feet deep off the dock so you can dive right in and it is hard to touch the bottom. The foam float raft was a big hit with the kids. We explored the lake by canoe and kayak, went to the Wild Center, hiked the Mt. Arab Fire, visited Lake Placid and hiked a couple high peaks, and ate at a bunch of restaurants in nearby Tupper Lake. The lower boathouse has 2 bedrooms, living space, and a kitchen. We used the campfire wood that we brought in the inside fireplace twice on chilly mornings. It was a bit wet and buggy in the evenings so we opted not to use the outside campfire. The upper guest cabin is one big room with a bathroom. Is is great for a second family and it forces them to come down and socialize since the only kitchen is in the lower house :). Highly recommended!
