What a lovely house! We had 2 families stay (5 kids), there was plenty of space for everyone. The kitchen was my favorite room - had loads of pots, pans, dishes… everything we needed for cooking in for our large group. There was such an amazing selection of games and puzzles in the house. Hours of entertainment 😁 The outdoor space was great for the kids. We did one local walk and we know there are more but the weather wasn’t on our side. Karin was very helpful and easy to communicate with before and during our stay.
We had an amazing family Christmas - Karin was a super host and responded promptly to all our enquiries - the house was warm and comfortable with plenty of space We went on a few local walks around bridal ways, fields and the chocolate box villages, which were lovely
A beautiful property in a fantastic part of the World. Communication with our Hosts from beginning to end was fantastic, there could have been no warmer welcome. The property is within easy reach of all there is to see in this beautiful part of the country, whether forest trails, sandy beaches, historic cities, mountain biking or horse riding (to name but a few). The house is amazing and fabulously presented with no expense having been spared in terms of furnishings or facilities. As one of our party thoughtfully reflected 'you can really tell that this Home is loved'. Highly recommended , 5*****. Thanks Rupert and Karin.
Karin and Rupert’s house is a beautiful and comfortable family home. As hosts they we’re quick to respond, accommodating and very relaxed. We were a large group with young children and the area is perfect for getting amongst nature. Chocolate box villages with thatched roofs. Having been locked down in London for the passed 3 months we enjoyed swimming and paddling in all the rivers and lakes near by and generally de-city-ing! There’s even a place to paddle with cows! We also found a safe river for the kids to properly swim. Thanks Rupert for your charming tour and Karin for your super helpful pre-booking guidance. Happy faces aged 6 to 52 x
Monxton is a pretty, thatched village in a conservation area surrounded by farms and woodland. The houses are centred around the Pill Hill Brook, a tributary of the Test, which is accessible via the village green. Scenic walks across fields are on the door step along with the Hawk Inn which has great food, open fires and a terrace and field overlooking the river. Abbotts Ann, a short bike ride over the hill, has a well-stocked village shop. Fly fishing on the Test river is just 15 minutes drive away in Stockbridge; other local attractions include the Hawk Conservancy (20 minute walk) and Thruxton Race Circuit (10 minute drive).
Easily accessible by car: a mile's drive into the village from the A303; a 10 minute journey from both Andover and Grateley train stations; historic Salisbury, Winchester, Marlborough, Hungerford and Stonehenge are all within a 30 minute drive; direct train to London from Andover taking just over an hour.
