5 years ago, my father Ray asked me to come back to Coromandel and take over his business so he could retire. As he had built the buildings himself and spent so much time breaking in the land which originally was a derelict farm covered in gorse and pine trees, he didn't want to be parted from the property. Having grown up in Coromandel until I was 11 years old, I was happy to come back to take over the business and support my dad. One year into the process (three and a half years ago now) I had my daughter Ophelia who has made my life busier than I could have ever imagined. I didn't realise too how much work and upkeep goes into maintaining a large property with many buildings on it! I have worked so hard over the last 5 years with my main focus being on renovating interiors and re-painting window sills e.g The journey will continue as we start fixing roofs! My father and I run the property together and we don't use any pesticides or sprays to manage weeds. I am a bee keeper,so every flower I have a desire to protect even if it is a weed! All the cleaning products we use are eco-friendly and we try to do a lot of the laundry ourselves which is a big job in itself. By drying the sheets on the line as much as possible we are doing our bit for the environment. The hot water for the Studio and the Tree house is heated by the solar panel in the summer and then in the winter by the fire. 2018 sparks a new year of change for us. Last year we got the driveway re done and this year we have renovated the Garden Studio and painted it cream and installed a heat pump. Better signage is in the pipeline then once a few other things are complete we will get started with a big project building another 2 bedroom cabin! We work as hard as we can to offer our guests the best stay possible and we really value your feedback. We look forward to hosting you and hope you enjoy your stay!
