The Shingle Shack is a different but pleasant experience. The long coast road has one line of housing and the shack sits at the rear facing the shingle and now filled gravel pits that form part of the RSPB bird reserve. It is surprisingly peaceful. though the RDH railway runs just in front of the property is a fun distraction for the few times a day it runs. We found the property comfortable (excellent bed) and met our needs. The industrial nature of the construction was fun and quirky Wayne was responsive , friendly and assisted with baggage on our arrival The Dungeness area is quite a unique place and we manage to fill our week quite easily We would have no hesitation to stay again. This is a really lovely place to stay, especially if you're in search of a peaceful, quiet and private place to relax and watch the world go by. The shingle shack looks out directly onto the shingle fields and the beautiful RHDR steam engine line that runs past every hour or so (it finishes at about 5:30pm). The place itself is well appointed with comfortable bed, sofa and deck furniture for sitting outside. The shower was nice and hot with great water pressure and everything felt new and clean. Wayne is a very friendly host who came out to greet me when I arrived and said goodbye when I departed but otherwise gave me my privacy. I highly recommend walking down to the beach at low tide and following the coastal path until you reach the Pilot pub, for great fish and chips and local beers and ciders. Don't miss the power station lit up at night, clearly visible from the shingle shack. I had a wonderful stay, thank you to Wayne for being an excellent host.

Lovely comfortable bed..milk very welcome, every thing we needed. Enjoyed sitting on the decking in the sunshine enjoying the peace and quiet.

What a fabulous place to stay. Remote and relaxing. Your view is literally the deserted plain of Dungeness. An added bonus is the miniature railway which runs in front of the Shack and the excitement every time a different engine passes. We loved waving to the drivers and passengers. There is everything in the Shack that you need, fridge freezer, a huge tv and great wifi!! It was spotless and seemed new although Wayne told us he built it some years ago. We were given an early check in and the instructions given re the property were supported by photos which was very helpful. Wayne met us on arrival and when we left. He was friendly with a great knowledge of the area and its residents! Highly recommend the Shingle Shack to anyone who wants to get away from it all!

A really peaceful spot- walkable to dungeness with a local bus close by. Perfect size for two people with a really lovely kitchen and bathroom. Loved watching the steam train from the living room. No sea-view but views of the plains, lighthouse and power station arguably more special. Sunsets were amazing.
