The beauty and tranquility of this property surpassed all of our expectations. We are so grateful for the care and thoughtfulness put into making this accommodation feel like a place you could stay in forever. From the comfortable furnishings to the stunning surroundings, every moment spent at Usnea was a true delight.
Usnea was a haven of tranquility. Felt like we were invited to stay in a home, being more of a destination rather than a stopover. 3 nights was simply not enough to thoroughly enjoy our stay. All aspects of enjoying the property were thorough to very clear instructions, availability of amenities, suggestions for the area were all thoughtfully considered. The property is extremely well taken care of, and it is clear their love for the environment is at the forefront of their planning and execution. Would love to be back very soon for a longer stay. Leave your expectations at home, go in with an open mind and embrace the relaxation.

We loved coming back for a second stay, and much needed rest. Ben and Joan are wonderful hosts who take much care, and attention to detail, with their property. We especially enjoyed the new Mondrian Haus. Thank you for another rejuvenating stay at Usnea.
Our stay with Ben was fabulous, it's the most impressive airbnb were have stayed in so far, Ben and Joan were great hosts, the location was central to area. The property was sensational, very tranquil especially the creek walks where you can go and just sit and listen to the water and totally relax. The accommodation was second to none, brilliant, there was extra items supplied, which we did not expect, this would in our opinion be a 6 star accommodation rating. If you want to get away and totally relax this is the place for you, we totally recommend you stay with Ben. Thank you Ben for a wonderful stay and the lovely chats.

Ben and Joan We are both very committed to the conservation and protection of this landscape. As a professional sculptor/artist operating from a well-established studio, Ben’s work has been informed and influenced by both the beauty and the challenges of nature and the Australian landscape. As a wildlife scientist and environmental psychologist Joan has been involved in many academic endeavours and research projects related to nature, culture, and the complex inter-relationships between them. We have both travelled and worked in many parts of the world. Our early volunteer work in West Africa and Nepal involved, for Ben, who was with the German Volunteer Service, rebuilding traditional West African art practices and reinvigorating Nepalese teaching requirements. Joan was engaged with a medical team (Britain Nepal Medical Trust), establishing health clinics and treating TB in the eastern part of the Himalayas. On our return to Australia we have continued our commitment to the environment, arts, health and human rights.
