The surrounding fields provide lovely views from the Crossing Retreat’s private courtyard garden where guests can enjoy the lantern lit outdoor seating area.
This is a beautiful little place, slightly hard to get to due to the smaller lane roads but definitely worth it! We was going to go out for dinner but decided it was lovely enough there to get a takeaway and play pool staying in! Will definitely be booking again at some point.
We had the best stay at Crossing Retreat, located in peaceful surroundings but still close to everything you could need. Em is a lovely host making sure we had all we needed to have the best stay. Will definitely be coming back 😊
Quirky property in a very quiet location. Bed was easy to assemble and very comfortable. Em was very quick to get back to me with answers to any queries. As mentioned by other guests the flapjacks were very much appreciated!
Lovely stay for myself and my partner. It was slightly tricky to find initially, but after taking the time to read the clear and detailed instructions in the description on the app, it was easy! Well furnished clean cabin. Both Em and Andy were very accommodating and also checked up on us as and when to make sure our stay was going well and whether we needed anything else. Also appreciated the random appearances from Lulu and Dusty!
Tunstead has many traffic free walks/ cycle routes and a very cute watering hole (The Horse & Groom) which welcomes passers by lunches and evening meals, local ales and cakes. St Mary church at the end of the lane is a particularly vast church for such a small village, so too is the church at Worstead just 2.5miles away.
Hoveton Hall is just around the corner and has some amazing gardens to stroll round. Also very close by is Wroxham Barns which has a farmyard, amusement rides, garden centre, specialist shops and a restaurant (which sells the most amazing full English breakfast!). Further on but still only 3 miles from the barn is Wroxham, the heart of the broads. There you can hire a boat, canoe, bike or walk along the river sampling the restaurants and cafes. It is also where you can board the Bure Valley Railway, which is Norfolk's longest fifteen inch gauge line running between Wroxham and Aylsham. The 18 mile round trip takes you through the picturesque Bure valley countryside following the river and stops occasionally at small country villages. Also within 3 miles is Coltishall, a lovely village on the river Bure, housing antiques shops and pubs with outdoor seating on the riverside.
You are also only 10 miles from the famous North Norfolk coastline. Whether you're looking for large expanses of sand, walking along sand dunes or marshland, bird/ seal watching or water sports the Norfolk coastline has them all. Just over an hour's drive takes you to Southwold, a typical Victorian seaside town with a modern take on the classic arcades.
We can't not talk about North Norfolk without mentioning the National Trust sites; Blickling Hall, Felbrigg Hall, Sheringham Park and finally Blakeney Point. We also have some super golf courses which we have played on and will be able to recommend to you.
Finally, the Georgian town of Holt is also not far away and is a must to sample its quirky shops, pubs and galleries.
There are some local buses and Wroxham/ Worstead train stations are 3 miles away but a car, walking and cycling are the best way to get around for your stay with us.
自我介绍
Hello, we're Andy and Em. We live at Crossing Cottage in Tunstead with our children Herbert and Etta. We have two friendly black cats called Dusty (long hair) and Lulu (short hair). We love the peace and quiet of living in the countryside and the feeling of space it gives you after a day of work. We love living in rural Norfolk and Tunstead in particular as it's central to sandy beaches, the Norfolk broads and the beautiful city of Norwich. Andy is an electrician and Em is a private Science tutor as well as a GCSE and A level examiner. Together we like walking, cycling, kayaking and love entertaining. We like to listen to a range of music but especially reggae, funk, soul and jazz. We're both very easy going and friendly people and are always happy to lend a hand to make your stay enjoyable. We look forward to giving you a warm welcome to Crossing Retreat.
