I have been visiting Maui for several years now and out of every place I have stayed so far Sydney's cottage has been my absolute favorite! Its in a perfect location, far enough away from the hustle and bustle but still close enough to everything without a long drive to get there. The cottage itself was ao quaint and the views are incredible! I absolutely enjoyed hearing the wildlife in the late evenings and throughout the early morning. The grounds are unique. They have so much rich history and stunning natural beauty. I look forward to staying again on my next visit.

Ideal little cottage - perfectly appointed. The views were spectacular. The property was lovely and felt like a little piece of paradise. The road can be a bit noisy at times but the location was ideal for hitting up the local restaurants and little shopping towns. Everything was perfect! The tour of the property was so interesting (the host gave a terrific explanation and guided drive around it!) and when we were able to walk it for ourselves it was quite magical. The rainbows that greeted us each morning were like a movie set! I would absolutely stay here again. Can't understate how nice the host was and how hands -on she is with the property.

Everything was as described. The property is stunning and the house itself is cute and comfortable. The guided tour of the property was a highlight of our time in Hawaii!

Our stay at Sydney’s was absolutely incredible! The tour of her land was so special. She definitely goes above + beyond for her guests. And really loved the location of the cabin. Highly recommend if you’re in the area!

While we love the sea and all its creatures we are, in the end, mountain--or, in Maui-speak--upcountry people. Sydney's chic cabin near Makawao was the perfect home base for trips to Hakeakala National Park, nearby forest reserves, local farms, and the eastern reaches of the island. We also enjoyed creekside walks on Sydney's farm though the toll climate change-driven drought has had on Maui's riparian systems is evident here, too. Once upon a time the roar of water rushing over the falls into the historic canyon Sydney and her husband rescued in the '80s blunted the road noise. That's not the case now but shutting the windows at night easily addressed the issue. The only problem with Sydney's place is that you want to stay longer, earn your stripes as a local who is as fully invested in the jungle's well kept secrets as Sydney is. The best thing is knowing that love for the land and the community of locals who respect and nurture it is shared with each new guest with aloha.
