Lumsden Cottage was a great place to base ourselves so my husband could participate in a fly-fishing adventure. Invercargill was only an hour down the road & beautiful Te Anau even less than that. The Cottage itself has everything you could want during your stay; a very well stocked kitchen, a washer & dryer in the laundry, comfortable beds & heaters in every room. Rob was fantastic with his communication. Clear instructions, a proactive approach & always responsive. I would recommend Lumsden Cottage if you're travelling to this part of the world.

Rob's place is a very cozy house, located in a perfect spot for exploring southern part of the island. I really enjoyed all the beautiful paintings on the walls. However, I can't say that we enjoyed our stay. The biggest issue is that on arrival we were welcomed by hundreds of flies, a bunch of them in each of the bedrooms. There was an insecticide available, but given the number of flies, we had to spend entire evening fighting them of, and then listening to them dying. After that, we were left with a gross carpet made of dead flies, having no tools to clean that up ourselves. Dining table was really dirty too. Overall our experience was quite dissappointing, especially considering all the good reviews. I wish we could share a positive opinion as well, but not this time.

We had a great time at Rob‘s place. The house is cozy and well-equipped. Rob did a perfect job in communicating all necessary information about his place in advance.

Rob was great to deal with and because he has fished the area extensively he offered me, also an avid fly fisher, much local knowledge which was greatly appreciated.
