Gorgeous clean light-filled Quantrill's Raid survivor built in 1862, redone in 2020. Two-block stroll to downtown Lawrence. Nearby: º Shopping º Microbreweries, restaurants º Galleries & entertainment º Public transportation º Bike/walk river trails º Short bike ride/drive to the KU campus Full kitchen, dining area, cozy sitting area & porch, 3 well-appointed bedrooms. Full laundry & free street parking/alley lot. **Must agree to house rules in your intro message prior to booking.** A lovely combination of old and new! Hardwood floors throughout, beautiful touches of vintage architecture, and light-filled rooms await your visit. One bed and bath have easy access on the main floor; two others, the second bath, and the utility room are on the second floor. The kitchen has all the basic requirements for preparing meals and coffee. The living room is a comfortable spot for gathering and socializing, with a nice front porch entryway. Allen House is adults-only, due to the high staircase. Please don't book with us if you have kids along. It is also a charming historic residence, which may mean some objectionable features for folks who are picky. Please book elsewhere if a historic residence and its quirks might not be pleasing. Floors might creak and lines might not be straight, but it's pre-Civil War!

Renee's home was an A+. It was a beautiful restored historical home with all the amenities that you would want. Renee went out of her way to make us comfortable and welcome. Thank you for the snacks and drinks. Designated parking was another plus. The location couldn't have been better. It was right in the heart of Lawrence. I would definitely stay there again.

We have stayed in this house a couple times. Love the extra personal touches- snacks and drinks- fresh towels and extras- makeup wipes. The fact that when you check out you just get to walk out the door is very nice! Host is responsive and helpful!
The house itself is clean and would be fine except for the two homeless facilities across the street. There were at time 15 homeless people sleeping on the grass and there was a fight. 3 out of the 5 nights it kept us up all night. I felt unsafe there we could not sit on porch because of this. The neighbors told us to be careful. Pretty house not a safe location when you r from out of town.

This is a central location close to some of Lawrence's best features in the downtown area. It's also within walking distance of KU campus and the football stadium. It's a bit longer to walk to Allen Fieldhouse, up and over the step campus hill- but not too bad in comfy shoes!
A short stroll to downtown means you can walk to shopping, galleries, pubs, dining, the local library, several parks, and other entertainment.
This is a location that gets some pedestrian traffic. There is also some traffic noise- but it isn't especially apparent inside. We offer ear plugs for use if sensitive guests are troubled by traffic sounds.
This is a busy one-way street but there is dedicated parking behind the house and on-street parking adjacent.
The charming front porch is a good place to sit and enjoy your morning coffee or a breezy evening.
If you have a car, most of Lawrence is less than 10 minutes, wherever you're going.
Campus is steeply uphill, regardless of your starting point, as the entire campus is on a sizeable hill with town surrounding it. Be prepared for this if you're planning to walk or bike ride.
Ubers/Lyfts and taxis are available in town if you aren't driving.
