Six Bells · 整套民居 · 2室2床1.0卫 · 可住4人 · Artist's home on the River
Welcome to my home. A 19th century miner's cottage on the river cutting through the base of the valley, where nature meets history in a hidden corner of Wales. It is eclectically and individually decorated for a comfortable environment where you are invited to rest and listen to the river, before exploring the stories and histories on your green and pleasant doorstep. Nature reserves, pubs and shops are walkable, Brecon Beacons, Newport, Cardiff and Abergavenny drivable. Welcome home. Comfortably sized Victorian terraced cottage, eclectically renovated, with a range of vintage and modern furnishings, and including some original features.
"Eclectic" is the best way to describe Josephine's house. We loved all the unique furnishings and the way it felt properly lived in, like Josephine had made very careful, personal choices with every piece. All amenities worked perfectly. Six Bells was a great place to stay for a couple of days, an important part of Welsh history but you'll find yourself travelling further out of the township for things to do during longer stays.
I stayed at Josephine's for my first time visiting the Welsh Valleys and it was a wonderful home to stay in. The accommodation was very warm, welcoming, and clean. Josephine as a host was very kind and quick to respond. The location was very quiet which was perfect for me! Overall, this was a wonderful accommodation. The beds were extremely comfortable and I would more than happy to stay here again. Thank you!
Responsive and helpful hosts, who welcome you to their home. Very much the original Airbnb model giving one the chance to experience something authentic and at the same time comfortable and very well equipped. Good location to explore bannau brycheiniog, would recommend the zipworld experience for anyone staying here.
A really lovely place, nicely furnished with antiques, and homely items. Very well-equipped kitchen, great size dining table, comfortable living room. Just excellent value for money all round.
The house sits in a small street of seven terraced properties, with no through traffic from the road, friendly neighbours and a beautiful riverfront aspect to the front. The direct neighbourhood is a former mining village, with access directly to the Ebbw Fach trail, walkable from the nearby nature reserve, with 'The Guardian' sculpture, all the way up the valley to Brynmawr. In Brynmawr the Clydach Gorge with ancient Beech woodlands, hosts a waterfall walk alongside the former Clydach Ironworks.
The small town of Abertillery is a mile away, with shops and pubs as well as takeaways and restaurants.
By car the cities of Cardiff (40 minutes) and Newport (30 minutes) are easily accessed, whilst the foodie destination of Abergavenny, with it's world famous food festival and Michelin starred restaurants just 20 minutes away. The Brecon Beacons National Park begins 5 miles to the north, including areas for wild swimming as well as hiking.
The real joy of the local area is the nature, which has taken over where coal mining and industry once ruled. The beaches of Gower are accessible from Swansea, an hour away along the Heads of the Valleys road, where you can stop off along the way for a visit to the Penderyn Distillery, or the 4 Waterfall walks is a short detour into the national park.
If adventure is your thing, Bike Park Wales mountain biking centre is 20 minutes away, and Zipworld the newly opened zipline adventure across the valley 20 minutes further. History is everywhere to explore, with over 600 castles in the small country of Wales, you are bound to stumble across a couple, including Castle Coch or Cardiff Castle in the capital, or Raglan castle or Tintern Abbey in the other direction on the way to visit the Wye Valley, where you can take a boat ride at Symonds Yat.
It really is a beautiful area to explore.
Parking is directly on the street outside the house, and a vehicle is recommended to make full use of the surrounding attractions.
