Winsor is a rural hamlet within the New Forest and the property is situated at a crossroads of fields. A little stream runs along one side of the cabin. Our neighbours are sheep, horses, cows and donkeys with friendly humans over the hedges to one side.
As you go up Winsor Road there is a small chapel before you reach The Compass, our local pub run by Vicky and Ash where you can eat lunch and /or dinner. They serve the famous pies cooked by local Farmer Sarah. At the end of the road is a Spa general store open from 7am until 8pm where the bread and pastries are baked at the back.
A more formal restaurant is Le Chateau on the road parallel where you will also find The Empress of Blandings, a larger pub with restaurant.
Lovely walks surround us but if you want a hit of bright lights instead of bluebells, Southampton with its bars and restaurants is a fifteen minute drive away. The more picturesque Georgian towns of Lyndhurst and Romsey are ten charming minutes drive in either direction and if you’re coming with younger children it will delight you to learn that Peppa Pig World (part of Paultons Park) is a mere five minutes from our gate.
A stroll away at the crossroads are two cricket clubs.
If you fancy walking out at night, to and from the pub say, take the bright torch provided as there are no street lights!

Leave your car on the property where we have a substantial gravel area and explore on foot. There is a bus that runs along the Southampton Road where the Spa general store sits. Otherwise a car is required to get you to the beaches. We have a friendly taxi driver who can be booked. If you travel here by train (it’s a mere hour and thirteen minutes on the fast train from Waterloo Station in London to Southampton Central) we can arrange to collect you.
