Explore stunning old-world gardens nestled in greenery and towering landscapes. Relax in peaceful spots like a stone tower, under a palm tree, or in a flower garden with birds singing. We loved our stay! Great house, plenty of spay for family of five, located in the middle of the island - close enough to restaurants of Ponta Delgada and all the beautiful nature San Miguel has to offer! Would definitely recommend!
The Chestnut Garden and House are absolute marvellous, and the perfect base to explore the island. The large, lush tropical fruit garden is so inviting, you almost feel you don’t need to go see anything else. André is an attentive and super organised host, and made sure we had a great time! Totally worth to spend a week or more!
We stayed in the Chestnut Garden for five days with four friends and we had a wonderful time. The house is very comfortable and the garden is simply amazing (we picked fresh bananas every morning!). We haven’t met Andre in person, but he was very responsive via chat and very helpful. I would highly recommend renting this place, either with friends, or with a family.
Beautiful gem on a beautiful island. Would definitely recommend this property. It was very spacious, clean and well equipped. The grounds were really lovely and peaceful. It’s a great location and the host was super responsive. Two extra (boring but perhaps useful) points 1. Electric heaters in bedrooms which are perfect for winter. Not every property has these or central heating 2. Separate washing machine and tumble dryer were also super useful
We had a fantastic stay in the chestnut garden! The private garden filled with fresh fruits was a highlight. The garden was larger than we expected. It was especially magical for our kids (6 & 9) who repeatedly got excited as they discovered yet another unexplored area of the garden.

It's recommended that you have a car when visiting this property, as it is located in a rural area. However, there is a local bus that comes up the main road a short walk from the street the property is on.
