Stockwell Park is quiet residential neighbourhood set within a conservation area about 5 minutes walk to the tube. There are several great pubs with excellent food nearby, loads of Portuguese and Brazilian restaurants and cafes to choose from, and coffee shops on every corner.
Brixton and its bars, restaurants, markets and general buzzing, multicultural atmosphere is about a 10 minute walk away.
Cricket fan? The Oval is a 10 minute walk away.
Clapham is a one stop ride on the Northern line. The newly redeveloped Battersea Power Station is about 10 minutes away, also on the Northern line from Stockwell station. It's a great place for shopping, dining, theatre, film, strolling along the river or catching the river boat down to Westminster/Borough Market/Greenwich or the other way to Hampton Court.
Need the US embassy for anything? Vauxhall and the entire new city at Nine Elms is about a 20 minute walk away or one stop on the Victoria line.

Heathrow is via multiple options depending on time, budget and suitcases: take the brand new Elizabeth line to Tottenham Court Road and then the Northern line to Stockwell, or the Heathrow Express to Paddington and then a short tube or taxi ride to Stockwell, or take the tube to Green Park and then the tube to Stockwell. Each take about an hour.
Kings Cross/St Pancras to Stockwell on the Victoria line is about a 13 minutes away.
You can catch a bus going in any direction north, south, east or west on Stockwell Road, Brixton Road, Clapham Road or South Lambeth Road - all about a 4 minute walk from the front door.
