The beautiful and historic village of Soberton sits in the delightful Meon Valley, Hampshire. The river Meon itself is a famously rare habitat, an English chalk stream, with natural beauty at every turn of its clear flowing waters. Footpaths and bridleways for local walks start outside the property's main gate and weave across the beautiful South Downs National Park through fields, woods, high up onto the famous South Downs and even past local vineyards. Visit The Forest of Bere for big woodland scenery (a ten minute walk away) or head uphill to the South Downs, take in the outstanding views. Then, when you need a rest, treat yourself to a drink or food in the delightful Soberton village pub, The White Lion. Close to the pub, is St Peter's Church, an ancient flint and brick village church, and worth a visit. Often decorated with locally gathered flowers and foliage, it boasts lovely stained glass windows and murals. Look for services in the porch.
Further afield walkers or cyclists can enjoy other excellent pubs, all accessible by walking or driving located in Meonstoke, Droxford, Exton and West Meon. Although it is an obviously rural location and very quiet, Portsmouth is a 20 minute drive away, so whether you want to head off to France on an early morning ferry or explore the Historic Dock of HMS Victory and Mary Rose fame, there is something interest everyone. Wine buffs will be able to compare and contrast produce from local vineyards and if combining culture and countryside is your thing, why not visit Chichester Theatre or Pallant House Gallery a 30 minute drive away. Rural charm, hearty outdoor enjoyment, history or the arts, the area has something for every interest. Fly fishing at Meon Springs Fly Fishery is just up the road too. Or... just relax and do nothing!

This is a rural spot so a car is essential. However, if you are a keen cyclist, and don't mind a 14 mile bike ride, trains at nearby Petersfield are an option! There are no local buses.
