Our converted self contained one bedroom cottage in the heart of the Ashdown Forest within easy walking distance to the famous Winnie The Pooh Bridge plus two delightful old country pubs. We are only a short distance from the historic Hever castle home of Anne Boleyn, many National trust properties, Sheffield park and gardens and Standen House. The Bluebell steam railway and historic market town of East Grinstead and Tunbridge wells are a short distance away. Gatwick airport 12mi Our converted stable cottage is a beautiful, calm, quiet and spacious self-contained Cottage, with a bathroom downstairs which has a bath with shower. There is a cosy comfortable lounge and a rustic well equipped kitchen diner with a vaulted ceiling. The stairs lead to the cosy comfortable bedroom with a wardrobe and plenty of drawer space and a separate vanity sink. Outside you have designated parking for one vehicle, either, a car or small van… Our driveway is quite narrow and cannot accommodate larger vehicles, i.e. long, wheelbase, vans or motorhomes. You will also have use of a private garden with its own decked area with garden furniture..

We had a great stay at Francesca's cottage. The place was very clean and had everything you needed. Francesca was very friendly and helpful, we appreciated the later checkout.
Safe to say this is one of the best Airbnbs I’ve ever stayed in. Not only was the cottage spotlessly clean but also beautifully furnished with so much charm & character. Francesca was super warm & friendly and made us feel so comfortable. Brilliant location for local walks and pubs. All round the most wonderful trip, we would definitely love to visit again!
We had a really lovely stay at Francesca's cottage. The accommodation was clean and welcoming, with Francesca kindly leaving some provisions like bread, milk and biscuits. It's a beautiful area and we took a shortish walk to Pooh Bridge as well as parking in one of the many Ashdown Forest car parks (easy to pay for the day) for a longer walk. Nice pubs nearby for dinner! We'd really recommend this cottage and hope to be back one day.
The Stable Cottage is a beautiful home from home. Beautifully kept, well equipped with quirky little touches. I spent two nights here as an essay writing bolthole and it was perfect. Bed was super comfy and a lovely shower and big bath too. Francesca is really friendly, helpful, flexible and responsive. Rudi the dog was an extra special bonus! I am hoping it is available for my next essay deadline, I'd definitely love to stay again!
A lovely little cottage. We really enjoyed our stay here. We particularly appreciated how friendly Francesca and her family were, they made us feel very welcome. Also in the perfect location for exploring Ashdown forest.

Set in the beautiful Sussex countryside. Within walking distance of the stunning Ashdown Forest. Just a 5 minute drive to the village of Forest Row with its eclectic shops and boutiques, lovely coffee shops and plenty of organic produce, we also have many organic and bio dynamic farm shops close by! There is a bus that runs every hour from the end of our drive .. heading to Tunbridge Wells in one direction (approx 30 mins) and East Grinstead via Forest Row in the other (approx 15 mins) cycling is very popular round here and we have the forest way (a dis-used rail track) it is a 10 mile track from East Grinstead to Groombridge, with lovely walks off it and picnic areas, you can join it in various places along the way, including Hartfield Village or Forest Row Village.
A car is definitely the best way to get around, however, we do have a bus stop at the end of our drive the 291 bus goes in one direction to East Grinstead and in the other to Tunbridge Wells. You will have your own private off-road parking space on our driveway, otherwise parking is free in most of the surrounding villages and there are plenty of car parks in East Grinstead and Tunbridge Wells where you have to pay a fee, like you do in most big towns.
