Welcome to 'Bear Mountain Lodge' - Our 2 bedroom + loft (3 beds total) + 2 full baths. This beautiful log cabin is a guest favorite and offers expansive forest views, private hot tub, open concept living space located deep within the historic Upper Canyon amongst the 100' tall ponderosa pines. Be sure to check out our gift shop 'Pine Needles Gifts and Decor' located at our main check in building 2959 Sudderth Drive. It’s really beautiful and spacious! The only thing is the drive way is really steep.
Gorgeous view of the mountains from the elevated front porch matched by equally impressive views from the hot tub of the gorgeous pine trees out back. Close enough to downtown to take advantage of the shops/restaruants yet far enough away that you feel like you’re truly on the mountain. We will definitely be staying here again. As noted in other reviews the driveway is steep! We ended up parking at the bottom of it, the snow does/can make it challenging to navigate.
the sheets, pillows and hut tub needed proper cleaning, the cabin overall needs a deep cleaning. the cabin was nice and wonderful location.
Do not rent this cabin if there is snow or ice in the forecast. The driveway is extremely steep and impossible to park on with snow or ice. There is no other available parking around the cabin. (All other parking is reserved for the other cabins) Also the road leading to the cabin would not be possible unless you have a 4 wheel drive vehicle while there is snow or ice on the ground. The TV isn’t working properly. Had to unplug and reset it every time we wanted to watch it.
They were some issues with 1 pillow from the game room it smelled bad. The towels need to be washed really well or replaced. Everything else was perfect and beautiful.

Upper Canyon Lodging Co started as a Mom and Pop lodging company in 2002 with the original purchase of Whispering Pine Cabins (still a UCLC member to this day!). We have since expanded to 4 lodges, numerous cabins, a gift/decor shop (Pine Needles Gift and Decor) and full service real estate company. We are still a family run business and love this magical place known as Ruidoso.
