Great home set up in the hills! We had everything we needed and Tina stocked it with essentials in case we forgot anything.
This home is beautiful and the location was perfect for our family visit (within walking distance to my brother's house!) Everything was clean, neat and perfectly appointed. The hot tub was a wonderful added bonus! Tina gave great directions for check-in and it couldn't have been easier! She was also gracious enough to give us an extra hour to check out- which was very much appreciated. A great stay and I hope we can come back soon!
Beautiful home with high end furnishings. Tina was extremely responsive and helpful with answers to any questions throughout the stay.
Waterbury Retreat is located 1400 feet up a forested mountain that can be accessed via Blush Hill Rd from the intersection of Blush Hill and Hwy. 100. Near the summit of the mountain is a subdivision called Pinnacle Ridge that is made up of private drives and high-end homes, each of which is sheltered by tall trees for a feeling of seclusion and natural beauty.
This is a fabulous base to experience all that Vermont has to offer, including spectacular scenery, quaint villages, local crafts, and a myriad of opportunities for summer and winter sports.
Less than 10 minutes away are:
The classic New England town of Waterbury, with its shops, restaurants, and historic train station.
Iconic Ben and Jerry’s ice cream factory and its famous Flavor Graveyard, where “Flavours Are Laid to Rest”
The Cold Hollow Cider Mill…
The Cabot Creamery Store …
Waterbury Reservoir…
Little River State Park is a 15-minute drive . From late May to late October, visitors can swim, kayak, canoe, hike, or go mountain biking. The visitor center offers activities and walks for kids and their parents.
Three of Vermont’s top ski resorts are nearby. Stowe and Bolton Valley are half an hour away, and smugglers notch is a few miles beyond Stowe.
Waterbury, Vermont is located at the intersection of Hwy. 89 and Hwy. 100, about 30-45 minutes (30 miles) southeast of Burlington and about 15 minutes (13 miles) northwest of Montpelier. if you are traveling on Hwy. 89, either north or south, take the Waterbury/Stowe exit, #10. That exit will take you to an intersection with Hwy. 100.
If you were traveling southeast on Hwy. 89 before exiting #10, turn north (left) on Hwy. 100 and go to the 2nd light (about a block away) to the intersection of Hwy. 100 and BLUSH HILL.
If you have been traveling north (actually, northwest) on Hwy. 89 from Montpelier, turn right onto Hwy. 100 after you take exit #10.
Very close to the intersection of the Hwy. 89 exit and Hwy. 100 is the most important intersection to remember: Hwy. 100 and BLUSH HILL. Blush Hill is the road that takes you up the mountain toward your destination. When you turn onto Blush Hill, you will immediately encounter a steep incline. If you do not notice a steep incline, you probably turned the wrong way off of Hwy. 100. Don't worry: Blush Hill stops being so steep within 2 hundred feet or so.
There is a Shell station on one side of the entrance to Blush Hill, so if you see a Shell station on your left shortly after getting onto Hwy. 100 from 89S, you have gone too far. Stop at the station and ask where Blush Hill is--everybody should know.
Once you have experienced the incline, stay on Blush Hill for 1 mile, then turn left at a sign that says Lonesome Trail. About 3/4 mile up Lonesome Trail will be a sign on your RIGHT for N. PINNACLE RIDGE RD. Turn right onto that road, then immediately to the right before the mailbox. That first property on the right after you turn onto N. Pinnacle Ridge Rd. is the driveway to Waterbury Retreat, 14 N. Pinnacle Ridge Rd. Follow the driveway as it curves to the right, and you will find the house. The driveway then circles around the front of the house, so several cars can park in that driveway. There is also room in the garage for a car; it's a 2-car garage, but I keep one of my cars there on a permanent basis. You can find the garage door opener on the small table in the entranceway after you use your code to get into the front door.
