Full of charm and character, this is a beautiful Lakeland cottage for four people. With a great mix of traditional features and with all the modern comforts and conveniences you could need, you really do have the best of both worlds here. Inside you'll find a cosy living room complete with wood burner, a well-equipped kitchen and a lovely dining area that has fantastic bi-fold doors. Upstairs on the first floor are the two bedrooms - a king-size room and a twin room - and the family bathroom. To the front of the cottage is parking for two cars, and at the rear is a delightful garden with decking areas and astro turf. Backbarrow is a charming village, just 3 miles from the southern end of Lake Windermere. A great attraction on the doorstep is the popular Lakeland Motor Museum. It makes a fascinating way to spend the day and has an excellent riverside cafe for lunch with a view. Follow the river Leven that runs through the village to the Lakeside and Haverthwaite Railway, built to transport coal and iron inland from the coast, now a popular tourist attraction where the trains take you through scenic countryside to bustling Bowness-on-Windermere. Spend a day exploring around the southern end of Windermere, there's plenty to see and do here. Enjoy a lakeside picnic at Fell Foot, a beautiful National Trust lakeshore park, before visiting The Lakeside Aquarium or the Stott Park Bobbin Mill to learn all about the industrial heritage of the area. Head to nearby Gummer's How for a woodland walk with stunning views from the summit, or enjoy a cruise around the lake from Lakeside Pier. The market town of Ulverston, birthplace of Stan Laurel, has a great selection of local independent shops as well as the world's only Laurel and Hardy Museum. Why not continue to the coast? Take in the wide-open vistas whilst enjoying a bracing coastal stroll. Enter through the entrance porch of the cottage, with its useful coat hooks and slate flooring, and into the cosy living room. The two-seater sofa and two armchairs are perfectly positioned around the wood burning stove, prefect for relaxing evening in in front of the fire. There's a Smart TV in here for entertainment too. The modern country-style kitchen is well equipped with an electric oven and hob, fridge-freezer, washing machine and handy microwave. At the back of the cottage is the lovely dining room, which has feature bi-fold doors to the garden. The wooden dining table is the perfect place to gather round and enjoy a homecooked meal whilst comparing notes on the day's adventures. Carpeted stairs lead from the living room up to the first floor, where you'll find the two beautiful bedrooms. The spacious master bedroom has a wooden king-size bed, perfect for indulging in a long lie in. This room is lovely and bright thanks to its two windows. There's also a quant dressing table and chair tucked in one corner, painted wardrobe for storage and an original feature fireplace. The second bedroom, a twin, is just as lovely as the first; a painted wooden wardrobe provides useful storage and there's a lovely view over the garden. This room can also be made up as a king-size upon request. Also on the first floor is the family bathroom, hidden behind a sliding door on the landing. In here you'll find a WC, washbasin and bath with shower over. To the front of the cottage there is parking for two cars as well as a little seating area, ideal for watching the world go by. To the rear is a fantastic, tiered garden, while off the dining room is a wonderful, decked patio area. There's a table and chairs, wall-mounted heater and lighting, making this a great spot to enjoy some al fresco dining. Steps lead up to a further area of the garden which is covered in astroturf and has stylish pod seating and a hot tub, perfect for relaxing with a good book. There's also a pretty flower garden, a further grassed area that has an apple and a plum tree, and another decked area that has lovely views of the surrounding countryside. A steel bike cable with padlock is also provided for storing bikes if you fancy getting out and about on two wheels for a change.
