Situated in the heart of ever-popular and delightful Evershot, Fern House is an impressive and beautifully styled cottage with its Victorian frontage and charming, characterful interior. Fern House is a wonderful Grade II cottage, which has been lovingly furnished and styled to provide a comfortable and stylish holiday home for up to four guests. On entering the property there is a bright hallway which leads through to a beautiful sitting room with its large brick fireplace and wood burning stove, high ceilings and shuttered bay window. The well stocked games cupboard will provide plenty of amusement for cosy evenings by the fire. Gorgeous pink sofas invite you to take a seat and relax, and enjoy the special atmosphere of this unique cottage, which cleverly combines its character features with well chosen furnishings and contemporary touches. Next to the sitting room you will find the attractive dining room, decorated with Swedish Borastapeter wallpaper, and the perfect setting for enjoying meals together; it has a well-stocked bookcase inviting you to start that new book. A door from the dining room leads out to the cobbled courtyard style garden with its sheltered terrace and pretty planting. The impressive kitchen is very well-equipped with all you will need to prepare a delicious meal, and the Ercol table with charming vintage chairs provides the perfect spot for sitting with your morning coffee. A cloakroom completes the ground floor accommodation, and stairs from the sitting room lead up to a bright landing, with another generous cupboard of books, and the two gorgeous bedrooms. Both bedrooms are generous in size and beautifully furnished with selected antique pieces blended with contemporary comforts, including sumptuous V-Spring mattresses. Each bedroom has its own luxury en-suite with marble tiling and high quality fixtures. The light-filled Bedroom one, previously an artist's studio, has its own sitting area with doors that lead out directly to the garden terrace. Bedroom Two is warm and inviting with an antique French bed and a bay window affording views of the pretty village Church. A door off the landing leads up a small 'ladder like' staircase to a second floor room that is perfect for spending some time quietly with a book or in meditation or yoga. Fern House is well situated on the High Street in this timeless and popular village, and the highly acclaimed Acorn Inn is just a few steps away, along with a village shop and bakery. The village is surrounded by great walks and bridleways, and is ideally placed for exploring the stunning landscape of West Dorset. The towns of Dorchester, Beaminster and Bridport are all just a short and pleasant drive away, and the stunning Jurassic Coast can easily be accessed within half an hour from your holiday home. Fern House is well situated on the High Street in this timeless and popular village, Just a few steps away you will find a village shop, bakery and the highly acclaimed The Acorn, which Thomas Hardy called "The Sow & Acorn" in his novel "Tess of the d'Urbervilles". Evershot is also home to the luxury The Summer Lodge Hotel which offers spa treatments and a magnificent restaurant.
At the other end of the village you will find Melbury Park and can enjoy a stunning walk through this beautiful deer park.
Nearby to Evershot, in the upper part of the Frome Valley amid rolling Dorset countryside, 8 miles (13 km) north west of the county town Dorchester. You will find the village of Cattistock, with The Fox & Hounds pub, and a good local shop and post office.
A short drive away you will discover the town of Dorchester (9 miles) which is host to a wealth of shops, cafes and restaurants as well as an abundance of tourist attractions including the Dorset County Museum, home to the Thomas Hardy archive and collection.
Sydling St. Nicholas is a picturesque village only a short drive away, winding along the little Sydling Water with tiny connecting bridges to the ancient thatched cottages which line the banks, and has a popular pub - The Greyhound which has received national accolades for the quality of its food.
The town of Sherborne is well-situated for easy access to all of Dorset and Somerset, and attractions along with National Trust properties just a short drive away such as Sherborne Castle and Gardens, Sherborne Old Castle, Montacute House, Lytes Cary, Tintinhull, and Barrington Court.
The nearby village of Cerne Abbas is the home of the Cerne Giant an ancient naked figure sculpted into the chalk hillside. The village also has three popular pubs and a tea shop, an ancient abbey with pretty gardens and many beautiful cottages to admire.
