My first time using an Airbnb and it was a great experience. The place was great and exactly as described. It was a great value and way better than having to stay in town at a hotel. The environment was amazing with lots of outdoor activities in the area. It was a great option when revisiting Paul Smith’s College. The host was very friendly and knowledgeable about things to do in the area.
New accommodation. Everything was squeaky clean. There were so many added items to use. Loved the visit.
We can't say enough great things about Elena's studio! It was in a stunning location where we could fall asleep to the sound of the river and wake up to birds chirping. Very private and we felt right at home. Elena has truly thought of everything and went above and beyond in suggesting hikes and activities in the area, stocking the kitchen and bathroom with anything we could need, and had local granola bars and soap that made it feel homey and special. We spent hours by the fire on her beautiful property and also enjoyed spending time by the stove inside. Elena hit the perfect balance between being welcoming and friendly but also giving us space and privacy. All of the little things (down to super comfy pillows) have been carefully considered and we were blown away by Elena's thoughtfulness. If you are looking for a peaceful getaway, this is the perfect place! We are already looking for an excuse to come back and stay here!
This was our second time staying here, and it was just as great as the first! I hope we'll be back soon.
20 minutes from Saranac Lake. Keese Mills is a quiet rural road (4/AWD needed in winter), and a neighborhood to those who live here. Many of the homes here were part of the logging communities that worked at Keese's Mills. It is home to the Paul Smith's College draft horses Dodge and Dana, as well as Nordic and biathlon athletes in training. Please note the road is not lit and to be careful for wildlife - especially deer, foxes, toads, turtles, and spotted salamanders. If you are new to the Adirondacks I HIGHLY recommend you arrive during daylight hours. I have a dark skies home, and the driveway is not lit.
Folks love to walk and bike on the road. In summer, you might see some nordic and biathlon athletes roller skiing (think big rollerblades) past the house. In winter the road is sanded, not salted, and requires 4WD/AWD. Safety - there is not any crime in the area, but do be aware of cars that might be travelling too fast, and wear a headlamp if it is dark. We are not accessible by public transportation.
