Duddings nestles in 9 acres of the beautiful Avill Valley in Exmoor National Park. It was a farm until 1916 and was transformed into a holiday cottage complex in the 1980s. Updated over the years, Duddings offers comfortable accommodation for up to 77 people across 12 cottages. On-site amenities include a shared indoor pool, hot tub, tennis court and games room. With medieval Dunster & the coast close by and miles of countryside to explore, Duddings is a superb base for your holiday. Allerford Cottage occupies the north end of The West Barn in what used to be an engine shed & part of a roomy stone barn. There are 2 entrances, one from just off the main courtyard on the lower ground floor & the other from the back of The West Barn on the upper ground floor via an enclosed patio garden (relatively dog-proof) Entering from the courtyard, you go up a couple of stone steps to get to the front door. Ahead of you is the double bedroom & to your right, the main bathroom. On your left is a staircase leading up several steps to the open plan kitchen/lounge/diner. Another staircase leads up to the first floor where you will find the twin & single bedrooms & a 2nd shower room.

Both Richard and Julia were extremely accommodating - even coming to our rescue within minutes with a Tic related incident with our pup on our final night! Our two young children had a great time with the facilities and we made full use of the pool daily. It’s a great location, Dunster is an interesting village to have a little mooch around and steeped in history. There’s a quiet sandy beach and England’s tallest tree all within a short driving distance. There were some missing amenities. Property and facilities were quite dated and knives in the kitchen very blunt, so we had to keep meals simplistic! It wasn’t the cleanest of properties, a bit dusty and towels/tea towel smelt as though they hadn’t been aired properly. Hoover had no suction and was very old, we did bring a dog and it’s in the doggy rules to hoover their hair up, which proved to be quite difficult! All that aside though, we had a lovely time and have made some happy family memories. Thank you!
The setting was beautiful and in easy distance from Dunster and Minehead. The cottage had everything you would need and an enclosed garden for the dog.
Lovely place, great swimming pool and games room and the whole place exceeded expectations. Lot to do and see in the local area too with the family, highlights included Dunster Castle, zoo, walk to tallest tree in England (a few miles away in beautiful forest) and fossil hunting at Watchet. Beautiful location.
A wonderful peaceful cottage in a great place with beautiful scenery. Great for kids. I loved the heated indoors pool and the games cabin as well

Duddings lies just off the A396, a 5 minute drive from the picturesque village of Dunster on the outskirts of Timberscombe. We are within easy reach of the coast at Minehead, Porlock, Lynton & Lynmouth & the pretty villages & valleys of Exmoor.
The best to explore the Exmoor National Park is by car.
If you intend to get out and about and explore the area then a car is essential. There is plenty of onsite parking available.
The nearest national train station is Taunton, and Minehead is the starting point of the West Somerset scenic railway.
