Escape to our enchanting 1943 cottage nestled in the heart of Oak Ridge, Tennessee. This whimsical retreat is the perfect blend of comfort and creativity, offering a unique and memorable stay for those seeking a break from the ordinary. Welcome to a world of whimsy! This delightful cottage boasts a carefully curated decor theme. From vibrant colors to quirky accessories, every corner of this space is designed to spark joy and ignite your imagination. While not quite a “tiny home”, the cottage is a cozy 585 square feet. Many have commented that if there was a rounded entry door that it would feel like a “hobbit home”, due in part to the lower ceilings and delightful aesthetic. (Taller guests be warned - the ceilings are in fact just under 7 feet.) There is a full-equipped kitchen ready for your culinary adventures. Full-size refrigerator, and oven/stove. There is a small table for two to dine at, or relax on the couch with TV trays and enjoy a movie. Please note that the kitchen does NOT have a dishwasher, or a garbage disposal. (Some guests may prefer to bring a few paper goods if they are dishwashing-adverse.) Unwind in the comfortable living room with couch, TV, and gas fireplace. The large windows provide natural light and a “portal” to view the outside yard and gardens. The couch folds out into a queen size bed. Extra linens are provided. The gas fireplace pilot can be requested to be lit in the colder months. Instructions for its use can be found in the house book. The dreamy bedroom has a queen size bed, comfortable mattress, and a small closet. Bedside tables and outlets on each side of the bed. The fairy lights and plush bedding will help you drift off to a peaceful sleep. We also provide a sound machine for those who’d enjoy the sound of waves or other natural sounds. The bathroom is a small sanctuary with quirky accents and all the amenities you need for a refreshing stay. (Note: there is no bathtub.) The other room in the cottage has a quaint desk area that invites creativity to bloom. Nestled in the corner is a small washer/dryer unit that will assist in addressing the practicalities of your stay. Consumable amenities provided include: shampoo, conditioner, body wash, lotion, hand soap, dish soap, laundry soap pods and dryer sheets, paper towels, trash bags. A “coffee bar” area is supplied with: regular and decaf k-cups, creamer pods, sugar, hot chocolate packets and tea. We have a small multi-cup Keurig, as well as an electric hot water kettle. For those who prefer to bring their own ground coffee, there is a small traditional drip coffee maker in the cupboard along with some filters. There is a 43-inch smart TV in the living room where guests can access their subscribed streaming services. We also have a DVD player and provide a small collection of movie options. To enter the home, guests will go up a small staircase to the porch. (If stairs and uneven paths are an issue, this may not be a property that will suit your needs.) Guests are welcome to explore, play, and relax in the large, fenced yard area. Loved this stay!! We were in town for a race at Melton Lake and it was very convenient getting to and from the course. The home had everything labeled which I LOVED. Everything felt intentional and thought of every. We felt that every need we had was met. Jennifer was very kind and made everything easy for us. Also loved the nods to LOTR and even watched a movies while we were there. Will absolutely stay again.
Please let me list the ways that this cozy gnome home is the absolute best place to stay… 1.Jennifer’s eye for detail- whether it be the little informative notes around the house, detailed Welcome Binder, or amazing decorations… no detail was left missing. 2.Speaking of decorations…this place was beautiful! Every area has something new to look at with a new piece or art to admire. The pops of Lord of the Rings quotes tastefully placed around made this nerds heart happy. But it wasn’t over done! Also… no dust! I love controlled clutter, but I love it more when cobwebs aren’t present. 3.The communication/ consideration was so out matched compared to every other AirBnB we’ve been to! The only issue we had- purely user error on our end with the AC- Jennifer answered all the questions we had and provided informative instructions to fix it within minutes! This cozy cottage has definitely been one of the best places we’ve ever stayed at and I can’t wait for another excuse to come stay here!
It was so fun, we loved the cottage. It was really beautifully decorated. Everything was really thoughtful. It felt really homie. We will definitely be back for a return visit. Hats off to Jen for such a whimsical and magical location.
The cottage was everything we hoped it would be! A beautifully decorated and themed home, this place was overflowing with charm. Jennifer herself was a very proactive host, letting me know ahead of time of an issue she was having with an appliance that she immediately addressed before we even arrived. Her place also has plenty of tips and instructions so that you’re never left guessing what she expects of you during your stay. Her hospitality doesn’t just end there though as she was kind enough to leave us with a few parting gifts for our stay. My wife and I highly recommend staying at this property.
Oak Ridge, Tennessee, is a place where history and innovation converge, creating a tapestry that stretches from the quietude of its early days to the resonating echoes of groundbreaking scientific endeavors. Established in 1942 as part of the Manhattan Project, Oak Ridge played a clandestine role in the development of the atomic bomb during World War II. The city, shrouded in secrecy, became a hub for scientific brilliance, where some of the brightest minds of the time collaborated to change the course of history.
Post-war, Oak Ridge continued its scientific legacy, evolving into a center for nuclear research and technology. Today, the Oak Ridge National Laboratory stands as a testament to the city's enduring commitment to scientific progress. Beyond the laboratories, Oak Ridge unfolds as a vibrant community with a rich cultural tapestry, from the iconic Oak Ridge Playhouse to the picturesque Melton Lake Park. As you explore the city, every street corner whispers a tale of scientific discovery, resilience, and the ongoing pursuit of knowledge that defines Oak Ridge, making it a destination where history lives on in every facet of daily life.
There is a single-spot carport on the property for parking. You will want a car to drive to nearby attractions and shopping.
自我介绍
Hi I’m Jen! My family moved across the country to Tennessee in 2021. It was quite a stressful experience, so we know exactly how our guests feel when they are looking for a place to truly call “home” when they are in a transition, or out visiting an area. Creating a space that is warm, welcoming, and has everything you need is my priority. I also LOVE to make some of our properties unique and fun! Welcome to East Tennessee!
