This cabin does have rustic charm & we had a great time! It also has deferred maintenance with gaps in weatherproofing, heaters that don't turn on, and carpenter ants.
This was a perfect spot for our group of three small families (total 4 adults and 4 kids) and 2 dogs. What the management company kept calling "rustic" is code for termites, several windows with actual air gaps around the frames (with -oddly- paper towels stuffed into the gaps!), and wall heaters that stopped working while we were there. We did fine, keeping the place warm with the fireplace and the baseboard heaters in the bedrooms, and it was honestly less stressful having our group in a place that wasn't pristine, but just know that's what the place is. The management company was very responsive to questions and understood the property well, but we spent quite a while trying to get the baseboard heaters working before contacting them only to find out that we had to throw the breakers first. Would have been helpful as initial instructions. Great location for proximity to Sugar Bowl and we walked to the national forest around the area.
We had a wonderful stay! Great location, quiet neighborhood close to great hiking trails. There was a lot of snow, but it was cozy and comfortable inside thanks to the wood stove and heaters. The kitchen was very well stocked with everything we needed, the beds and linens/bedding were all very nice! The host was proactive about providing instructions ahead of time and very responsive. Super fun spot for friends and family!
Fabulous location. Well stocked amenities in kitchen and bathrooms. The fireplace was great, kept the house really warm. Really good selection of family games.
Our family stayed at the Skoien cabin recently and had a great time. It was walkable to Serene Lakes as well as to cross country skiing at Royal Gorge. We all felt right at home, and the hosts were very responsive and helpful. I would stay here again.
