The house was in a great location with an amazing view. Close enough to the city but far enough away from the hustle and bustle. Juile was responsive and let us know a few neat local places to checkout with the kids. Would recommend this stay, especially great for families
We had a lovely stay in an area of Wellington which we have never spent much time in. We had terrific walks along the coast and enjoyed Island Bay.
We were a group of friends staying together and the house was perfect to accommodate us all. The bedrooms were lovely and the lounge a fantastic area to gather together. The stand-out was the view of the South Coast through the picture window in the lounge - just fabulous! A great place to stay.
Houghton Bay has a variety of homes - some new, some older. It is very common to see locals out exercising - in fact its very entertaining to watch the fashionistas and their dogs from your comfy seat in the lounge!. There is a popular walkway along The Esplanade. Visit Lyall Bay to the airport side for Maranui, The Botanist, Spruce Goose seafront cafes and watch crazy people kite surfing the waves. Island Bay is the other side for pretty fishing boats and a Marine Education Centre open Sunday’s as well as a lovely beach, a lighthouse, The Beach House and The Grocers Shed cafes. Red Rocks Coastal Walk is 7.4km taking 2-3hrs return. Experience the wildest part of Wellington's rugged south coast and one of our most iconic easy, flat track walks. Past a small group of historic baches built in the early 1900s head out to Devil's Gate. Meet a colony of seals in winter in their natural habitat just beyond Red Rocks at Sinclair Head but don't get too close. There is a visitor centre at the end of Owhiro Bay Parade - 5 minute drive from 148 The Esplanade.
Free car parking opposite the house in off road nooks. Bus stops 1min walk also opposite. Hop on a bus to Island Bay and trendy Newtown then past the hospital to the city
