There are numerous small towns locally offering independent shops and eateries to explore, including Petworth, Arundel and Godalming, with the latter offering a mainline rail link to London. Keen gardeners will enjoy discovering the beautiful gardens nearby such a Leonardslee (17 miles) as well as a wealth of National Trust properties such as Petworth House (11 miles). The Weald and Downland Museum and Goodwood House (23 miles), famous for its motor circuit and horse racing, both make for fascinating days out, as does watching the polo at Cowdray Park (15 miles).
