Bampton is home to Downton Village! Featured in the popular TV series, Downton Abbey. Are you a big Downton Abbey fan? Do you fancy wandering the streets of Downton Village?
A local walk called “The Downton Mile” lets you walk in the footsteps of your favourite characters, and explore Bampton and the most significant buildings and streets used for filming. The walk has been designed to raise money to help pay for the restoration and upkeep of Bamptons Old
Grammar School, used as the Cottage Hospital in filming. Fleur de Lys are actively supporting this great cause as our chosen charity, please help us and the local community by purchasing a ‘Downton Mile Map’ available in the bar for a £1 donation. Our goal is to reach a mile of £1 coins (if 71,527 £1
coins were laid edge to edge the distance from start to finish would be one mile) and then continue to fundraise for a community fund.
BAMPTON & BEYOND
Since most of the points of interest are located around the church, you don’t even have to walk the whole mile. We look forward to welcoming devotees of Downton Abbey to explore our wonderful village. Head across the way to the Robert Vesey Rooms at Bampton Library where you can purchase Downton memorabilia and locally made products.
