Our family enjoyed our time at Cedar Cottage, its a lovely old cottage and very homely. it is slightly more "Rustic" then comes across in the pics but that adds to the country charm I think. Plenty of space around the property to walk and adventure and the owner gave us a bag of carrots to feed the horses which the kids loved. Great communication when required and we even added an extra night with ease.
The Cedar cottage at Canyonleigh looks premium in the photographs but looks very different in person. It's more an old country house with bad drainage odour throughout most of the house. When we got there there was no cot or high chair for our toddler. We were asked to go pick it up from a dusty shed at the neighboring property. The cot was broken and unusable. However someone promptly dropped off a replacement cot the next day. There were dead insects strewn throughout the house with smell of mold in all the kitchen cabinets. We had initially booked a 6 night-stay but decided to leave after 3. However Holiday Rental Specialists were great at responding and send the cleaner during our stay (Alicia) who was very understanding and helpful. Holiday Rentals kindly also refunded me the rental portion of remaining nights as a gesture of goodwill - which we appreciated.

Didn't start well. Despite completing the multipage registration on the rental managements own website I didn't receive either an email with check-in instructions nor a text with the keylock code. The code is meant to be sent to your phone 30 minutes before check-in (which is not until 4pm). Couldn't receive the code even if it was sent, because there is no phone reception (not on Telstra 4G network anyway). Luckily for us the cleaner was onsite so the house was open. My message to the hosts failed to reveal ether the code or the location of the key-safe (they stated it was on the wall to the right of the front door....nope). You'll need to consider if the house is safe for your child as there is only a single adult waist height handrail on the outside deck an no handrail at all on the back steps. Every window sill in the house had a selection of dead flies but overall the house was clean and tidy. BYO fly spray as the windows and doors don't have fly-screens.
We had a great time at the Farmhouse despite the rain we had for 2 days. The place looks exactly as described. The surroundings are great and there are a lot of beautiful places and nature to visit. We saw kangaroos, birds, rabbits and other animals around the area. I recommend the place.!!! We only found some dust around the kitchen area, dishes, etc., however, we will definitely try to visit the house in a near future. The only recommendation is for the host to be mindful that there is no mobile phone signal when in the house, hence, do not send SMSs as we were only able to get the messages when we left the house for shot visits around the town. Comms by email would be the best option in this case.
