Swell Shacks will always have a place in our heart. We stayed for 5 days and it was a highlight for our month in Sri Lanka. The staff are outstanding - always friendly and attentive, the sea pups and beach dogs gave us the adopted fur babies we needed, and the grounds are identical to the pictures online. Beautiful, open and spacious rooms. Location is walking distance to a Doctors House, Madiha beach (swimming with sea turtles), many restaurants and a grocery store. Breakfast is always a meal looked forward to during your stay. Be advised that at the time of our stay, the rooms did not have a mini bar, so there isn’t much in the way of keeping food cold, but staff was amazing to give us ice for our drinks whenever we asked. Swell Shack sets the bar very high for any other accommodations in all of the South coast. We would return in a heartbeat.
Während unserer Sri Lanka Reise war der Aufenthalt bei Swell Shaks ein kleines Paradies direkt am Meer. Das Hotel liegt in einem ruhigen Villenviertel zwischen Mirisssa und Matara. Die Zimmer sind modern und sehr hochwertig ausgestattet. Von der Gartenanlage hat man einen tollen Blick auf die Surfer. Das Frühstück war reichhaltig und wurde wunderschön angerichtet.

Swell shacks is located in the idyllic village of Madiha amongst the palm fringed beaches.
Within walking distance you can access a whole host of local restaurants and the now infamous Dr's house where weekly parties, markets and live music events are held. Swell Cafe, our sister cafe, is also located opposite the hotel which has become a bit of an institution in the local area.
If you just want to relax and take in the sounds of the ocean you could not be better placed with our location. You will wake up and be within metres of the Indian Ocean and the increasingly popular Madiha main point surf break.
For beaches that are more child friendly Polhena beach is located about a 5 minute walk from the hotel. In a very short tuk tub ride you can also visit the more popular beaches of Marissa, Midigama, Weligama and Ahangama all within 20 minutes of Swell Shacks.
Our team will happily arrange airport shuttles or local tuk tuk taxis at the guests request.
